Cute Cottage with Pool. Close to the Beach!

Welcome to Florida! !Everyone who has stayed at my cottage have told me “It is So close to everything!' The beach, the Halifax River, restaurants, shopping, movie theater, etc. The next thing people have said is how private, peaceful and cute. My offering has a covered front porch with two rockers and a little table for your morning coffee or tea. As you enter the front door, you will see the living room and then a small step down leads to both the kitchen and bedroom. and bathroom. Please note: It is a divided home (separate private entrance for owner and guests)
. Owner is readily available for any questions or needs you may have. The pool area has a covered patio for outside meals, and an in ground pool (with a love seat built into the deeper end). Occasionally owner may use the pool but generally allow as much privacy as possible for my guests. The bedroom has a queen bed. Bathroom with tub/shower combo.

PLEASE read house rules re pets and smoking.

*****Also I make the washer and dryer available for my guests in case they run out of clean clothes. One family arrived and began washing 6 loads. This is not intended as a substitute for a laundry mat but only to help you if running out of clean clothes at the end of your stay. Thank you for your understanding

Activities and Attractions: Daytona International Speedway (Coke Zero , Daytona 500, Turkey Rod Run); Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Orlando (all theme parks, Fun Spot Amusement Park (2 in Orlando); St. Augustine (outlets, old city)
Kennedy Space Center, Tampa (Hard Rock Casino, Tampa Zoo, Busch Gardens, Sunken Gardens ), Jacksonville (Zoo, Jacksonville Landing), local: jet ski rental, miniature golf, go karts, and of course the beach ) God's gift to us

PS. Bikers/Turkey Rod Run. Safe place for bikes/vehicles

FYI. If you book my cottage at Christmas you will find it decorated to spend your Holidays in Florida—- 3 miles to the beach. Christmas tree, ornaments and more! You may even find a gift under the tree on Christmas morning!

We have a 21 ft SeaRay and if you want to go out on the St Johns River or Halifax River (maybe even take a short ride into the ocean out of Ponce Inlet), let us know. $275/4 hrs and if you are having a great time any additional time is on Danny It makes for a great vacation memory !

First time to the area

It is a cute little Cottage. Very comfortable and quite neighborhood. Really enjoyed the pool and your flowers are beautiful. Its really a nice place. The. Mosquitoes were a little bad at night ..And Although I did not realize.and (I could have read it wrong.). That the cottage was a part of your house and the pool was directly behind your part of the house ..Nothing against you by no means. I didnt get to meet you and you sound like a wonderful person and Im sure you are.. But Most people when they go on vacation,especially a couple like their privacy.. It was just a little too close for us.. But we really enjoyed our stay

A cozy beach cottage
My husband and I traveled to Florida to escape the Michigan winter and visit family. Before we made the trek home, we wanted to spend a few days near the beach and found this lovely cottage in Port Orange. It's nicely decorated, well-supplied with everything travelers might possibly need, and conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood close to stores and beaches. Miriam greeted us when we arrived and made sure that we were comfortable. She also provided us with tips about where to go and what to do. We're already planning a return trip next fall or winter. Daytona 500 Stay
Our stay at this property 5 miles from the Daytona Track and 3 from the beach was very comfortable in a cottage that was like home not a sterile hotel room. Hosts were very accommodating and our pet dachshund loved the yard and them. Definitely will return. Don’t believe negative comments - not our experience at all.

In a quiet residential neighborhood
Just a few miles from Daytona airport and the speedway, but really convenient to get to them, the beach, or the restaurants etc. A previous guest hadn’t washed the dishes and cutlery very well so we had to wash things before using them (we would do that anyway but it would have been nice to take something out to use without finding it had been put away soiled…). From a personal point of view, I wish hosts wouldn’t rely so much on plug-in artificial scent devices which are uncomfortable for many people, and I’d prefer to see fewer religious items unless the listing makes it clear that religion is particularly important to the host.

Misleading Not Private Pest Problem
We were excited about the early check-in however the location did not feel private at all. After giving us a walkthrough of the property the owner hands us the keys. My fiance proceeds to wash some of our clothes. The owner runs into her and explains how other guests damaged her equipment so we should moderate usage. We then went into the pool it felt like we were being watched and then the owner comes out half dressed with plastic cups to have us replace our glass cups. Didn't feel like a getaway but more like a stay at mom's house. The furniture and bed had animal fur and I think I was bitten up while sleeping because I woke up with bite marks and still itching. The bikes were fun and the location is close to everything.

Did you know that dogs shed?
My fiancé and I, along with our dog Maverick, stayed for a few days while we visited friends who live in Port Orange and went to the beach. Before we booked our trip, I messaged Miriam about our dog. He is a 65lb German Shepherd mix who is a year and a half old. He is very playful and not aggressive in any way. At the time of booking I didn’t realize that they also lived in a separate part of the house. After realizing that, I messaged Miriam to ask permission for Maverick to be off leash in the back yard and to swim in the pool. I was told yes. Shortly after arriving, Miriam knocked on the door to introduce herself. She was very nice and asked how our trip was. Her boyfriend, Danny, asked to see Maverick. At first glance of Maverick, I felt as if he wasn’t what they were expecting. They didn’t say anything but it was noticeable. I warned them even before we came that Maverick is currently in training and he does jump on you to say hello sometimes. We swam in the pool later that day and the next day after long days on the beach. On the third day, Miriam came to tell me she didn’t realize that Maverick sheds. She said that his hair was all in the pool and that IF we decided to come back they would have to get a small pool for him. I felt as if I inconvenienced them because my dog sheds. But again, he’s a 65lb German shepherd mix so of course he sheds! At that point I apologized, even though I didn’t feel like I needed to, because I didn’t want the rest of the trip to be awkward. She said, “I just didn’t know, but now we know”. How did you not know that a German Shepherd would shed? And it’s not like I didn’t tell her his breed before we came. We booked three months ahead of time and if she didn’t know she had plenty of time to find out before we arrived. I was pretty upset so we went back inside and Miriam them texted me and said, “I told you Maverick could swim in the pool so I won’t go back on my word.” She also said to skim the pool after he got in to try and get the hair out. So now for the rest of the trip I felt guilty about having my dog in the pool, but at the same time it’s not his fault he sheds and I wasn’t going to keep him inside the whole trip. If you have a dog who sheds this probably isn’t the best rental for you. Also, during our stay, they had their whole family down. It was very inconvenient because there were other cars in the driveway and Miriam asked if we could all share the pool. Overall it took away from our vacation.
