Savor the tastes of various Champagne vintages and enjoy displays of contemporary art on a tour of the vast cellar network of an elegant Reims estate.

Explore the grand estate of the Pommery Champagne House, also known as the Domaine Pommery, for a taste of the region’s world-famous wine. A popular viticulture attraction, this grand, Elizabethan-style estate features a network of underground tunnels decorated with art and stocked with wine. Come to marvel at the architecture, stroll through the cool cellars and sip on some of the finest vintages in Reims.

Stroll around an estate that was built by Madame Louise Pommery in 1868. The cellars were dug out of the surrounding chalk quarries, and Pommery commissioned artists to decorate the walls of the estate with bas-relief sculptures.

The vast estate today covers 124 acres (50 hectares) outside Reims and includes landscaped gardens, which surround the castle-like mansion. Take photos of the conical towers and pastel-blue walls.

Climb down 116 steps into the cellars on one of the daily tours. The cellars form a network that runs for 11 miles (18 kilometers) under the estate. Marvel at the illustrations of people drinking Champagne that have been carved into the chalk walls. Walk through the cellars to see the hundreds of bottles of Champagne that lie in stacks throughout the estate.

On your tour, look for work by some of the contemporary artists who are patronized by the estate. Enjoy one of the temporary artistic exhibitions that are often on display in the grounds.

End your exploration of the Champagne house with a tasting session. The Vranken-Pommery winemakers produce several million bottles of the region-specific wine each year, using hand-picked grapes to ensure the highest quality.

Book your tour of the Pommery Champagne House in advance. The attraction is open daily, except from November to March when it is only open on weekends. Domaine Pommery is easy to access from Reims, just 1.6 miles (2.5 kilometers) from the city center. Walk here in under 30 minutes or drive and use the on-site parking.
