"This is a really, really lovely hotel. It is a little bit of a step back in time, but in a lovely way. A really grand building that has been well kept whilst it is still possible to imagine how grand it would have appeared to people when first built. It made me smile whenever I was walking around it. I was there on business, but Carlisle seems like a very interesting place ... I will be back to both Carlisle and the Crown and Mitre!"

"This was our first time to the Dumfries area and we had a great time exploring the forests and coastline. Also took the kids for a day at Mabie Farm Park. Everyday it was a pleasure to come back to Woodedge Lodge and get in the hot tub. The lodge was lovely, had everything we needed for a great long weekend. Nigel was friendly and great communication. Thank you so much for a great stay. "

"Stayed for 2 nights with my 84 year old mum for a girlie few days away. Our room was at the back courtyard of the inn (I think that’s where they all are). So easy access for mum. Parking close to the room. Room was spacious with modern decor and en-suite bathroom. Hosts were chatty without being intrusive. Breakfast both days and the evening meal we had were delicious and more than ample servings. It’s a quirky inn with loads of character. The bar area is in keeping with the age of the inn. Great few days. Would highly recommend. "
