Just a note on the current Covid 19 situation; We *Sanitize* our vacation rentals according to the CDC guidelines with safe practices like: Masks, Gloves, Bleach, washing on Hot, and a whole lot of obsessive cleaning! Our places are very safe to stay and enjoy without worry. Durango is currently partially open with masks required in all public spaces. Restaurants are open with social distancing in place.

Bucking Mule Guest House is a clean modern 500 sf. studio located in Durango Colorado. Only six blocks from Downtown Durango, and one block from the Horse Gulch trail system, our guesthouse is in the perfect location if you like to walk or bike around town. Our guesthouse has an 800 sf. private courtyard with patio furnishings, BBQ, and beautiful outdoor eating table. Securely fenced it is ideal for pets and children. Fully landscaped and very private. There is also a locked shed for bike storage available for your use.

The guest house has a Japanese soaking tub with custom spa 'bath room'; walk-in travertine shower. In the Japanese bath tradition, the toilet room is separate from the bath room. There are bath sheets and robes provided.

Stained concrete floors have in-floor heat for cozy winter comfort . Contemporary design with a western flair, we call our decorating style zen cowboy. There is a super comfortable Tempurpedic style bed complete with Ralph Lauren linens and a down comforter. Also, in the same room, is a very comfortable queen sized leather pull out couch.

Durango Natural Foods, our local natural foods store is just across the street. Walk to breakfast at College Drive Cafe (the best breakfast in town) or Durango Joes coffee house, both located within a block of our guest house. Home Slice Pizza, Raider Ridge Cafe, CJ's Diner and 8th Ave Tavern are all within a block or two.

This is a green built studio with a Solar electric power system. Feel good about staying here and reducing your carbon footprint while relaxing.

Flat screen TV with DVD and free WiFi making it ideal for business travelers. Pets and children are welcome.

The guest house is located next to the best trail system in Durango: Horse Gulch Trails. If you hike or bike you will be in Georgia O'Keefe heaven.

This was a great studio unit close to the centre of Durango with its own patio area for sitting out, and laundry facilities. We were able to charge our EV overnight thanks to the owner providing an extension cable.

Perfect getaway
We loved staying here - so cozy, beautifully decorated with every amenity one could dream of! The location is perfect - minutes from downtown in a beautiful neighborhood. The enclosed yard and lovely patio were perfect for our dog who was free to just explore. We will definitely recommend it and hope to return soon.

Wonderful stay!
Accommodations were just like pictures and very clean and tidy with great decor and excellent amenities…very cozy and comfortable. The small enclosed, private yard was such a plus for our accompanying pups to be able to utilize and enjoy as needed. Would definitely stay at The Bucking Mule again and highly recommend!

Immediately responsive helpful owner. Lovely tranquil-feeling space. Very well equipped for easy meal prep - & great Natural Foods Coop just across the street to buy all the fixings. Walkable to downtown & "Riverwalk." Worked wonderfully well for my husband & I. Highly recommend.

Unique unit with private patio
So much better than a hotel or typical unit because of the patio and yard. Inside was comfy, well-furnished- but what we particularly appreciated was the private patio and yard- the perfect place for a tranquil breakfast (lattes from nearby coffee shop) and to work; the patio location made up for the fact that we had to unexpectedly do some work! Host was very responsive about any questions we had before and during the stay. Our ancient dog loved being able to wander around.

excellent accomodations and patio
a little hard to find (no address visible from the street. the place is very nice and the patio was great for our corgis as well as for us. If this was my property the only thing I would change is the bathroom sink which is so high that simplly washing one's face is a chore. Virtually everything one could want is stocked in the unit. We will probably try to stay here again next year.

Lovely!
Such a lovely lil space! Had to drive around the block a few times just to make sure I was in the right spot but that may have just been me! Very clean! I took advantage of the bath, so cool! Owners were very responsive when I reached out! Super nice and welcoming! The patio area was nice too! If you’re in the area, check out Raider Ridge Cafe across the street, great food and the owner was awesome to talk to! I’ll for sure stay again when I’m in the area!

Cozy stay with great location and yard
My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Bucking Mule! The dogs loved the private yard, and we enjoyed reading and enjoying the sunshine on the patio. The home itself was cute and cozy, I did not realize beforehand that it only had a mini fridge and cook top -- but everything worked well and we made breakfast without problems. There is also a nice grill available outside. It was decorated very nicely, and I used the soaking tub daily! My only request would be a king bed, which I think the space could accommodate, but overall we loved the place! We would definitely stay again while in Durango -- which will hopefully be soon!

Cute cottage and yard for dog.
Our stay was rough the first night but pleasant the rest of the stay. The big hanging tea lights over the front porch were very bright and we couldn't find a switch to turn off. The second night we just unplugged them. The smoke detector in the laundry kept chirping so we took the battery out. Bed was comfy, kitchen was easy to cook in, and the yard was nice for our dog.

Bucking Mule Rocks!
At Bucking Mule, Holly has created a lovely home away from home. It is nicely and comfortably appointed and thoughtfully supplied. The fenced in yard and patio were perfect for playing with my German shepherd and we enjoyed strolls in the neighborhood. Do not be deterred by small refrigerator and lack of stove/oven. With grocery stores nearby it was easy to pick up supplies every couple of days and the kitchen is stocked with cookware, utensils, microwave, and an easy-to-use two-burner hot plate. I was able to fix tasty yet simple breakfasts and dinners every day of my stay. I highly recommend Holly and look forward to another visit.

I got a chance to visit my daughter at the last minute for my birthday and Holly was able to accomadate us. The place was perfect for the visit. I brought some of my garden's harvest and was able to make two wonderful meals using the grill/microwave/hot plate. The organic market a few steps away was also very helpful as I didn't have to get into my car to go shopping. Thanks so much for leaving the camping headlamp near the grill as that helped so I didn't burn the dinner! The bed was wonderful and the soaking tub very relaxing. Would love to stay with you again. Lovely space.
Lovely setting and attention to detail was excellent. Parking is a little tricky, especially since I drove a pickup and parking is tight with rose bushes making it difficult to get out. I parked on the street the second night since people in front property parked in the turn around area (they had two vehicles). Not the owners fault. I'd highly recommend this place, even though a bit pricey when all taxes and fees added in. Owners very helpful when I contacted them about the door code; they were very accommodating and wanted my stay to be a good one. It was.

Nice Durango option
Convenient walking distance to all things Durango. When booking didn't receive promised information and had to request it be resent. Didn't get entry instructions upon arrival and had to call all three contact numbers for access. Thankfully we were able to get the access code and directions to the unit from the owner's mother/assistant. The owner did call later that evening and was very cordial. Overall a nice place though communication could have been better.

Convenience and Comfort
The property is as described. The host was very responsive to the one issue we reported. The property is decorated and built for a spa-like experience with nice soaking tub, art, and small touches. The outdoor area is nice for hanging out however the road noise can be loud at times but overall is not a major issue. The location is a plus with easy access to the Horse Gulch trail system, Ft Lewis college skysteps, Natural food coop, local breakfast place, and a 7-block walk to town, The only inconvenience is there is a shared laundry room with a door next to the bed, connecting the front rental, and it can be noisy if they are doing laundry late at night although the host asks everyone to be respectful and only use it between 8 AM and 8 PM. We asked the other renters to honor that and all was good after that. Overall a great place for a single or couple wanting a relaxing and fun get away!

A Very Enjoyable Stay!
Our family of 4 adults (2 adults and 2 adult children) stayed at The Bucking Mule. After reading the previous reviews, I was a bit concerned that it might be too hot in July, however, Holly had recently added the window unit air conditioner. For us, who like to sleep in a cool room, this made it very comfortable. When we pulled up to unpack at about 11 pm, I was concerned about the noise coming from the bar across the street. However, this room is on the back side of the house, and having the newly installed A/C unit, this allowed us to keep the windows closed. The entire place was very clean and cozy. My wife and I stayed in the main bed, complete with individual reading lights. Our 2 adult children stayed on the foldout couch, which was a very nice foldout couch. With 4 of us, it was also very nice to have the main bathroom (sink, shower, and Japanese tub) separate from the room with the toilet. This kept the toilet free while the shower room was being used. The in-house washer and dryer proved to be invaluable during our 4-day stay. We were right down the street from the Fort Lewis College campus, which is where we had to go to attend the wedding we were there for. This was very convenient. We loved this place and would stay there again! Thanks, Holly!
