Beech Hill Pond is one of the most desirable fresh water locations in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. The air conditioned home sits 20 feet from the waters edge with docks that reach out over the water. The comfortable living room/kitchen/dining area has a wonderful view of the water. The master bedroom has a balcony that looks out over the serene pond. You will have such a relaxing and refreshing vacation that you won't want to leave!
Bring your own kayak for fishing on the lake (sorry current dock will not accommodate motor boats). Or just enjoy the provided kayaks and paddle boat. Very clear water that you can see down about 20 feet or more.
Great location, can swim in a beautiful cool lake and still close enough to spend the day in Acadia and Bar Harbor. Both are located about 50 minutes away.
Beech Hill Pond is 4.5 miles long, half a mile wide, and up to 104 feet deep. The Loons are prevalent on the lake and can be heard calling in the night in the quiet still air.
Fish found in Beech Hill Pond include salmon, rainbow trout, lake trout, brook trout, small mouth bass, and several others. The largest lake trout in Maine was caught on the lake in 1958. It weighed 31.5 pounds.
Beech Hill Pond was said to be one of the "best bets for Maine lake trout" by Tom Seymour. It is not possible to fish from the lake's shore, although fishing can be done out on the lake.
Since the cottage is at the water's edge it is set down along the edge of the water. This means that there is a steep grade from the road down to the house. We do not recommend driving down to the house since there is parking along the road. At the least we suggest you walk down before deciding to bring your car down and even then please only back down since there is no room to turn around. We have parking for 2 cars along the road and there is a staircase to get down to the property (see photos). The benefit of being tucked down away from the road is you hardly notice vehicles going by when you are there!
