"The apartment was spacious. 1 bedroom, and sofa bed in living/kitchen area. Very clean and great air-conditioning. Kitchen/cooking area was basic but adequate for a short stay. "Lovely setting, well equipped house, especially for us with baby and toddler. The only let down was the weather! We still managed to use the pool. Pool setting is excellent."

We walked to the old city with our 11 year old in about 25 minutes. The old city is magnificent! Having the cafe downstairs for breakfast was really easy. "We had an excellent 1 night stay at Sowell Le Chevaliers. The staff was very patient during our check in. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Carcassonne. The room was clean and nicely appointed with a walkout spacious terrace. We wish we could have stayed another night. The view we had of the walled city and overlooking the river (with bird activity) was a treat."

A great stay

"The hotel is inside the walled city, right next to the basilica. As no car is allowed to drive to the castle, the hotel offers a free shuttle to pick/drop you to the parking lot where you get in/off the taxi. The hotel has a lot of history but the condition itself needs some maintenance. The view from the hotel is unbeatable and the staff are super friendly. Overall is a very nice stay. Remember to book a taxi before arrival "

Lovely and great staff

"Only one night in Carcassonne and the old city was a bit of a disappointment, thankfully the hotel was lovely - small, family run, and parking was a bit of a faff - but enchanting. Apart from yet another sliding glass door 'covering' the loo, and annoyingly loud music all evening in the bar/restaurant/garden, it was a nice space to spend time. Food options were limited but nice, staff deserve special mention - top notch! Spaniel is your best friend if you have food, cat takes further convincing- would be amazing in summer I think."

Hôtel Le Donjon - Coeur de la Cité Médiévale

"This is a property with character. Staff was professional, helpful and courteous. Located within the city wals, this was an ideal location to walk around, explore with easy access to shops and restaurants. Very Nice room on the second Floor with separate toilet and shower rooms. Lighting in the main room could be enhanced. Very good breakfast buffet with enough choice to please anybody. Very courteous breakfast room attendant. Quiet area as the mediëval city is virtually carfree. Highly recommended. We took the bus from the train station and a taxi back."

Perfect hotel in perfect location.

"Nice older hotel, but all modern features in room, in excellent location. About a 10 minute walk to amazing fortress/castle and same to the old part of town. Hotel had a small store attached, where you can buy great wine at an excellent price. They also had a great selection of cheeses and bread, plus other nice foods/snacks. Also, on the third floor they had a nice small terrace area to sit and drink wine, enjoy your bread and cheese and get an amazing view of the magnificent castle/fortress. They also had a nice patio garden area, but we didn’t avail ourselves of this. Lastly, the staff were friendly and the owners were on site all the time. They were very kind and helpful to us as we had to stay an extra night. Would thoroughly recommend this outstanding hotel, with extremely kind and friendly owners. "
