"I came to Gero on a recommendation from a close friend. I somehow missed it when I had done a previous Takayama trip and I am glad I came back. The town is very small and the hotel is easily walkable from the station, some people say 15 mins but it was more like 8-10 mins and that was while stopping to take pictures of the Hida river. Great location for the hotel, close to everything. The Onsen in this hotel alternate between male and female daily so you will have a chance to experience both...

"What an amazing hotel, staff greeted us outside the hotel and knew who we were even though we didn't tell them what time we were arriving. They checked us into our traditional Japanese apartment complete with an outdoor onsen, but not before my girlfriend got to choose her Yakuta to wear. "Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. Very good vista of the town in the morning or evening. Very large garden & landscape, with tall tress & seasonal flower trees.or bushes.. a beautiful & varied feast for the eyes & senses if one come at different seasons...
