"I came to Gero on a recommendation from a close friend. I somehow missed it when I had done a previous Takayama trip and I am glad I came back. The town is very small and the hotel is easily walkable from the station, some people say 15 mins but it was more like 8-10 mins and that was while stopping to take pictures of the Hida river. "Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. Very good vista of the town in the morning or evening. Very large garden & landscape, with tall tress & seasonal flower trees.or bushes.. a beautiful & varied feast for the eyes & senses if one come at different seasons... Has its own hotel museum to showcase it's checkered history & early artifacts, etc....

"This was a very memorable place that I visited. It is in the rural area of japan, you can really feel the realness of the area. It's in gifu however it's definitely not a tourist trap area.
