"This property was clean but gas cylinders were empty. So no heating, no hot water except kettle, no cooking as it was gas. Eventual"

Derwent Manor Apartments
3.0 star property
7.8 out of 10, Good, (45)
"Lovely quiet village, ideal location for walkers and dogs, no shops in Portinscale only 1 pub and a cafe. We stayed in apartment- and ate at pub in Portinscale only a 15 minute walk into Keswick lovely walk. Apartment clean , everything you need . The building is Victorian, plenty of room in apartment set in lovely grounds. It is dated, and the hall entrance could do with repainting and new carpets to make it more inviting for guests. We initially couldn’t get the heating to work, but this was...

Holiday lodge with stunning views near the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake
9.4 out of 10, Exceptional, (41)
"A lovely 3 night stay on Bassenthwaite Lake. Lodge was well appointed and as described in the listing. Location is remote but only 10min drive to Keswick and exactly what we wanted. Recommend The Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite for dinner and even managed a quick paddle board on (thankfully not in) an empty Lake, which was bliss. Will definitely consider staying here again."

Fabulous 18th century stone built character cottage with stunning views
9.4 out of 10, Exceptional, (32)
"The cottage is in a lovely quiet rural location with beautiful views. As a family of four the two bedrooms with a jack and jill bathroom worked well for us. The lounge is comfortable and spacious and the kitchen a lovely size too, with a table to eat at. We also appreciated the porch and utility room which was helpful when coming in with wet coats and boots. The garden is a really good size and with the enclosed wall was perfect for our dog. Overall the cottage is clean, comfortable and...

Cosy cottage close to Ennerdale Water
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (22)
"We had a great stay using this as our base to explore part of the Lake District, easy access to lakes and many fells in one direction and to vast beaches a short drive away in the other direction. Loved the jacuzzi bath to relax in after a long day walking. We found the stairs to be steeper than we are acustomed to and also smaller treads, but a good hand rail for support when going to bed with tired legs. Wifi struggled a bit on occasions with demand when trying to stream something on TV and...

Cosy, romantic fellside cottage hidden in the Glencoyne valley
9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (103)
"What a beautiful location and lovely little cottage. We were worried about the size of the bunk beds as we didn't realise they were not full size but my daughter and friend (5'11" and 5'9" found them very comfortable). The track up to the house was more of a problem. Glad our car has lots of clearance - a small car would not have managed those pot holes!"

St Marys Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
8.0 out of 10, Very good, (1)
"The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed. A minor niggle, but it was a bit cluttered with cushions and throws in the sitting room - the throws just slid off the leather sofas and the cushions were too big and too many, so were surplus to requirements. The location suited us very well, with a host of lovely walks and places to visit nearby. We had a wonderful break and can recommend!"

"Cosy, well equipped cottage with a lovely view. Our elderly parents loved that they didn't have to go anywhere to enjoy the beach and they could get out for easy walks. With amenities just a few minutes drive away and local to wildlife viewing options this worked well for us. None of us were keen to leave."

"We were looking for a quiet and relaxing couple of days and the Shepherds hut gave us just that. It was small and very cozy. It was warm on arrival which was very welcoming. If i were to give some feedback i would say that a couple of side lamps would be helpful. Overall an excellent stay."
