Visit the Glasgow Science Centre to browse hands-on technical and scientific exhibits, take an intergalactic journey on the big screen and enjoy movie shows. Spread over three floors, the interactive museum opened in 2001 on the south bank of the River Clyde. The Glasgow Science Centre is part of a continual redevelopment program at Pacific Quay, a former commercial dock. Take the elevator to the third floor and start your visit in the BodyWorks exhibition. Learn how humans function at the hands-on displays. Run inside a giant hamster wheel, conduct a simulated autopsy and test your brain with the memory challenge. Kids will enjoy helping scientists perform real experiments in the Live Lab.Drop down to the second floor for more interactive fun. Experience an earthquake tremor then try out a thermal imagery camera. Understand the social, moral and ethical issues raised by science.On the first floor, find insects from Africa. The hissing cockroach from Madagascar sure is a strange animal! Children under 7 years old can wriggle through pipes and operate cranes while learning about water on The Big Explorer cargo ship. Spot more than 9,000 stars and their constellations in the Planetarium.Don’t miss out on the 2-D and 3-D movies at the IMAX cinema. The lineup includes animations, documentaries and Hollywood blockbusters. Check the center’s official website for the movie schedule and event details.The Glasgow Science Centre is open daily from late March through October. In winter, it’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is an admission fee and you pay extra to enter the Planetarium and IMAX theater.Situated just north of Festival Park, the Glasgow Science Centre is a 10-minute drive from the city center. On-site parking is available for a fee. You can also take the train to the Exhibition Centre station and cross the River Clyde via Millennium Bridge on foot. Buses stop a short walk from the entrance too.
