Stress
Booked , paid and day of arrival told no room was available due to error . 35 mins explaining to someone in the US. Still waiting for my money to be put back into my account…… Stressful…… as I spent the night in the back of my van.

Excellent B&B
It was a very well kept and lovely house to which the rooms were in, with a lovely breakfast and comfortable bed :) Lady even gave us a lift back to our cars which we left at a wedding venue. Very polite and helpful tennants. Wifi was not very good but over all, excellent stay.

The only downside i would say is lack of internet and also phone signal. I picked Ollivers because it said free wifi and that it was a farmhouse, i did however come home early because i hardly got any connection when i needed to use it. The location however was very peaceful amd on any other occasion i would have stayed longer

A quirky stay
Ollivers Farm is a quirky little place and I find it hard to review as it had its pluses and minuses. I can see how some of the other reviewers found the owner a little unwelcoming, but we couldn't grumble. She left a wedding early to greet us and was amicable the following morning when serving breakfast. We were guests at a wedding at The White Hart, which although only a mile away, was not easy to walk to as it's all along country roads so just be aware of that before you stay. I was absolutely dreading the thought of a shared bathroom but I think there is more than one bathroom between the amount of rooms. We were lucky because our room was next to a bathroom and the guest next door to us didn't show up, but I can imagine this being problematic if you were in a rush and there was full occupancy. The room was clean to the extent that the bedding was fresh, floor hoovered and we had a comfortable sleep. However, the properly is extremely old and was full of cobwebs, we even got greeted by a spider the size of my hand the following morning. Breakfast was tasty but really was missing the full English option. Cooked breakfast was bacon, fried slice, egg and tomato. We would have loved sausages and mushrooms. There was a lovely selection of homemade jams which were so tasty and cereal as well. The option to top up juice would have been welcomed. Overall, not a bad stay. But I don't think it was worth the £85 we paid. However, we had little choice in the area.

What a disappointment!
The initial reviews I found about this place were relatively positive and this is why I booked here. Afterwards I found the reviews that were nearer the truth. The directions were clear and the signage very good. The welcome by the lady of the house was not very friendly and you really felt as though she would rather you weren't there. The bedroom was very dusty and full of cobwebs, there was a good selection of teas but no milk just coffee creamer. The limescale pattern covering the shower door was quite pretty and if you cleaned the shower head first you got a decent flow of water. I couldn't find a hairdryer but did find a lot of the owner's clothes in the drawers and wardrobe. It was nice to sit at the table next to the window and look out on to the lovely garden. The lack of yogurt and fruit for breakfast was disappointing but the fried bread, egg, bacon and tomato were nice and hot. Homemade jams are always nice and there was a good selection. When were we ready to leave the lady came out of her room to see us off, I thought, but no! She opened the door for us, wished us a good day, and went to her car and left us. My husband had to ask about what to do with the key and the pair of us were left struggling with our luggage to close the door.

Basic B+B (Shared bathroom)
The B+B is a little basic but was OK for what we wanted it for. It's got a real homely feel. You have to share a bathroom with other guests which was OK for us as we were the only ones. There is no bath which upset my wife but there is a shower which is OK (not very hot so may be more of an issue in winter). We struggled to find the place which was a little bit annoying. Google maps places the B+B over the road from the turning you need for it. There is a small signpost on the floor of the turning. The woman who run it was nice and the breakfast was really good.

Average / disappointing stay
Hotel is very hidden, near impossible to find unless you ring the b&b. Sat nav location isn't accurate. The sign for the b&b is small and on the ground covered by grass. We were greeted and shown to our room by the gentleman owner and left to our own devices. The bed was clean and comfortable, however there was a lot of dust around the room and house in general. The wifi doesn't work in the room only in the commom area. Basic amenities in the room. Best part was breakfast with homemade jams and farm fresh ingredients. Lack of atmosphere in the dining room all that's need is a radio in the back ground. Good night's sleep as there is no outside noise from local surroundings. As we left we had to find the lady owner ourselves to pay and hand the keys back where she then informed it cost to extra on a saturday to stay which we were not told when boiking. Did the job for what we needed as a friend was getting married near by but would not stay again and look else where if needed.

odd but nice
Poor signage its a little sign on the ground (could hang/tie it to the tree) we where early (1.5hrs) which flustered the owner. The house was cold, and we felt abit unwelcome, we only wanted to drop our bags off and go again. We did this on our return we were met a gentlman who was lovely went through everything should us how to unlock/lock the front door. Informed us that there was no electric in the morning so the showers would not work. The rooms where large. There was the owners clothes in the wardrobe. Half used bathroom stuff. The heater in the bedroom looked liked it had better days but it worked and did take the chill out of the air. lovely quite area slept very well. Electric went off at 08.30hrs so did get a shower (think they could have said it was 08.30 cut off time as I heard other guest a bit shocked. Breakfast was great homemade jams homemade bread cooked breakfast was diferent eggs and two bits of bacon, very nice fresh free range eggs. The owner was very good cooking everything on the aga range. The place does not take cards cash only this needs to be clear on the hotels.com website. overall a good stay they need to get a duster to clear away the cobwebs, bit more dusting remove some of the cluter in the rooms. have a nice folder with everything in the list of local foods was on a nail in the beam in the room. would I stay again no, nor would I recomend.
