"Rooms were very clean and adequate. Rooms warm during a cold January stay. Cooked breakfast was great. Hostess Caroline was a delight. Flat 10 minute walk to city gate (see photo). So no need to park closer unless you have a walking disability. Very desirable location. The only thing that would have made it better was to let customers know in advance that parking is £12.50 @ night. No nearby free parking in sight. Don’t hesitate to stay here. "

"The single room was comfortable, clean and pleasant. It had tea making facilities, a hair drier and iron. The en suite was of a good size and private. The only draw back was the shower - it had little water pressure and the shower hose was a poor fit. I had a key to a separate entrance which gave me freedom to avoid the bar and flexibility to come and go."

"One night stay en route to Whitby 2 rooms booked. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown to our rooms. Rooms were very spacious and clean and had all we required. We went down to the bar for food and drinks the food was very good and enjoyed by the three of us. We enjoyed the evening with the locals and our host who made us all feel very welcome.
