Beautifully appointed cottage in extensive grounds

9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (86)
"We had a week’s stay at Orton Hall in Nell Gwyn Cottage. The front room and bedroom were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped, but it all felt a bit dated. The grounds were lovely, but unfortunately it rained every day we stayed there, so we couldn’t really explore them. However, we did discover a chocolate factory in the village which we very much enjoyed, as well as a very tasty cafe for a full English breakfast nearby. It’s centrally located for visits to both the Yorkshire Dales...

The Bothy-Detached cottage,1 mile from Barnard Castle, Pet Friendly, EV Charger

9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (68)
"The Bothy is a very good choice if you are planning to visit Barnard Castle or North Pennines or indeed County Durham. First time ever in the region we were nicely surprised by both Barnard Castle and the city of Durham. The Bothy itself offers everything we needed for a nice stay. Its quirkiness was a nice bonus. Communication with the host was timely and hustle free. Instructions and directions were spot on! The host has made the effort to provide those little touches that make a big...

Beautiful 8 bedroom Grade II listed Georgian Townhouse

10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (1)
"We were a party of 10, getting together to celebrate the 60th birthday party of 2 family members. The house was beautiful, plenty of room for everyone, although to be honest we spend most of our time in the cosy but large kitchen and adjacent games room. Many period features allowed you to really experience how they used to love. Kirby Stephen high street was a stones throw away, making it convenient for local shops and pubs. Would highly recommend for a large family get together"

The New Inn 1730

3.5 star property
8.0 out of 10, Very good, (1)
"Our stay at the New Inn 1730 was only overnight, and we arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening. This is a welcoming & friendly pub, with restaurant and accommodation. The owner did his best to accommodate our needs during our short stay, and is still finding his feet a little having only recently taken on the business. Food options were limited when we arrived, particularly for our two fussy children, so we did eat elsewhere that night, but the cooked breakfast in the morning was very good,...

Gardenside Lodge self - catering dog friendly holiday home in County Durham

10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (48)
"The lodge was perfect. Spotlessly clean and pretty and everything you could need. However what made our holiday absolutely perfect was the garden the lodge is set in. Stunningly beautiful, magical grounds that you could see from all sides of the lodge. With a folly perfect for an outdoor fire and BBQ. Central to all of the North East and Durham attractions. I have been twice now and can’t wait to go again. Magical!"

"We found the property clean but lacking, certainly not "Superb". The decor was sparse e.g. bare light bulbs. Negatives Bathroom: no mirror, no towel rails, only one hand towel in the property for three. Kitchen: Two sets of knives & forks for three, no large glasses or wine glasses, no fire blanket/extinguisher, no downstairs smoke alarm I could spot. Elegant Listed former victorian village school in England's last true wilderness

10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (41)
"Very comfortable and well equipped house. We were just two so more than enough space, but would have been plenty if there were six of us. The owner Geoff sent us a welcome email and assured us that we could contact him anytime if we were concerned about anything. There was no need! Location was beautiful, very remote hamlet but surrounded by amazing scenery. The lovely village of Allendale was just a 10 minute drive away, very good small supermarket and a couple of of good tea shops. We were...

"Excellent Property nice and quiet, but little bit like a rabbit Warren, seemed to walk for ever to find our room. Food was excellent but service a little lacking the personal touch seemed to be a bit of a disconnect between the waitresses.
