We had four nights in this hotel. The first room we were in had a terrible damp smell in it and the previous occupants empty shower gel etc was still in the shower cubicle. We asked to be moved room, which we were without a problem. The second room was ok, although the bed sheets were clean, the bathroom and room it’s self could of been cleaner. Again there were empty wrappers in a draw from previous occupants. The shower tray filled with water and overflowed onto the bathroom floor. Over the four nights there was no house keeping touched our room- disappointing to say the least. We felt the cost did not reflect the standard of the room, it did not even include breakfast.
Please be aware that we ended up in a caravan ,sneaking named caravan room . £100.00 per night . No problem with caravan but when you look at website you are show pictures of rooms in side hotel no caravans . The main problem was it was absolutely filthy something dead on floor in loung carpet covers in dog hair really bad smell and something growing from wall in bedroom . Had to find alternative accommodation as we could not stay there .
Nice friendly welcoming staff, good attitude towards clients, Locals are a good bunch .All clean and comfortable, good food would recommend and would revisit anytime
It's a country pub, a bit rough and in need of some renovation. Room was fine, if basic, area is not the most exciting but if you are passing through it's a good cheap option.
Visiting relatives in local town also took opportunity to spend a day in Chester shopping and sightseeing.
This hotel is ideal as a base for all activities.
