"We stayed at Alda Hotel for 7 nights and loved our time there. In addition to the aspects we liked marked above, they have an exceptional front desk staff that kindly takes care and with a warm smile of any questions or requests. One person stood out as an extraordinary hospitality ambassador, Ms Violeta, who is beyond extraordinary. If we return to Reykjavik we will definitely stay here again, mostly so we can enjoy her sincere customer service with a smile. I worked 30 years for a company that served the biggest attractions parks, five star hotels and destination management companies, from my experience of working with the top in the hospitality industry, I recognize greatness in Violeta who exceeds any such standards by far. So much so that she should be training others in this field. Also, the hotel offers a nice breakfast buffet which includes vegetarian options. If you need anything in your room that is not already there, just ask. They will do their best to accommodate you. Also, it is so convenient to walk around, go to bus stop #9 for excursions, and/or call a taxi. It is within walking distance from almost everything worth seeing in Reykjavik, or a non-expensive taxi ride from the others like Sky Lagoon and Perlan Museum. "

"The kindness of the staff, the convenience of proximity to the airport and car rental offices, and the perfectly adequate facilities provided at this hotel are what makes it a great choice. Breakfast was great, including both hot and cold items. The dinner menu was a relatively small but perfectly adequate choice. The food was good quality and a decent portion size. Rooms have comfortable beds, are clean, have good WiFi and kettle with complimentary tea & coffee. Bathroom is basic but adequate with plenty of hot water with good pressure in the shower. Bath towels need to be bigger and the addition of a shower mat to step onto when leaving the shower would be good. We had a flight cancellation and could no longer use one of the nights we’d booed at the hotel. After our explanation the hotel were amazing enough to refund our non-refundable room. Fantastic customer service that was much appreciated. Fully recommend this hotel. "

"Love hotel halfway between the airport and downtown. The room itself was super comfy (with a lovely bathtub!) and the concierge was very helpful. The breakfast was your typical nice hotel breakfast (eggs, bacon, cold cuts, etc), plus a sampling of exotic meats (e.g. smoked whale). It’s about a half hour walk to downtown if you take the shopping street (just down the road and up to the nearest light and to the right), or maybe 40 min if you take the shore and sculpture walk (which has gorgeous views) — down the road in the other direction. Easy for taxis to get to as well."

"Very good property in very dark area. Highest ceiling hotel I've been. We were on our way to glacier tour the next day morning. Perfect location, just 25 mins away from meetinfg point. They also offer Northern light alarm call service for complimentary. We were able to spot gleamce of aurora in the middle of night. Just sucks we can only stay here for a day due to our schedule. Highly recommend. "
