"I liked the location it was easy to find, the parking was great, friendly staff, the room very clean & welcoming. The Illinois hotel was one of the nicest hotels Ive visited in Sydney I would definitely visit again 😊 I didnt like walking from my room to the bathroom late at night the hall was dark but lit up when i walked out of the room. "Reasonable condition pub accommodation. My room had toilet/basin ensuite which was a bonus as rooms are shared facilities. Shared hot shower standing in a bath was fine. Good linen and towels and toiletries. Near excellent transport hub; Strathfield station."

"I stayed here Feb 2025. The room was as depicted in pics. New furniture carpets, and furniture, well cleaned. It has a security door for entrance off street. Considering it was on a major thoroughfare for buses to city it was very quiet. No traffic or plane noise. The buses go past to take you to central station. Room has fridge kettle and microwave. I did not go to adjacent shopping centre close by but you can google Norton shopping to see that."

"My only issue is the room was advertised as having a “kitchenette”. That meant a kettle and a portable hot plate. No toaster; no cooking equipment etc. which v disappointing. but hey, it’s cheap, clean and convenient."

"Room shutters needed repair. Overall the facilities were fair for what they are and, whilst pretty noisy, the Palace represents good value. It’s an old pub so be realistic; don’t expect a quiet, modern experience. 3.5 stars. "
