Swim in the crystal-clear waters of Jalousie Beach, located south of Soufrière. See beautiful coral reef and tropical fish and sunbathe on pristine white sand. The beach is positioned in between the majestic peaks Gros Piton and Petit Piton, which creates a stunning backdrop for this seaside location.
Jalousie Beach is a very popular place for snorkelers and scuba divers. It has an underwater marine reserve at the shoreline of the Petit Piton. The sea water is transparent and home of a wide and colorful variety of fish, squid, crabs and corals. It’s a good option if you are traveling with kids because it’s shallower than other beaches. Take your own snorkel equipment or rent it at the beach. Visit the dive shop to find gear for scuba diving.
The beach is public and divided into areas. It has a large designated zone for snorkeling, a dock for the boats bringing visitors by sea and a spot that belongs to a large luxury resort. Find some free sun lounges to relax on and enjoy your day. If these are all taken, pay a fee to use the ones located in the resort area. Have a nice lunch, refresh with a drink and treat yourself to a colorful cocktail at the beachfront restaurant. Use the restrooms and the changing area available at the beach.
If you prefer to enjoy a quieter day with less people around you, head to the southern end away from the main area, the busy restaurant and the hotel. Be aware that you will find no amenities in this part of the beach.
Arrive on Jalousie Beach by road or by sea. If you are getting there by car be aware the roads in the area are usually winding, steep and with few traffic signs. Water taxis are a popular way of traveling short distances and are a source of income for many locals. They can be quicker than cars and give you the chance to enjoy some lovely views.
