Jieshou Park

Jieshou Park is a scenic and leafy set of grounds that is perfect for a quiet break from the hubbub in the heart of the Zhongzheng District. Dominating the heart of the park is a large statue of Lin Sen, a former figurehead of the Republic of China. Relax and gaze into the water of the pond in this serene haven.

Snap photos of the red statue of Lin Sen, who was a leader of the Republic of China from 1931 until his death 13 years later. He has been celebrated in Taipei for his role in defending the region from a Japanese invasion. The impressive sculpture stands on a tall podium and a set of steps.

Inspect the nearby Monument to the Victims of the White Terror, which commemorates those who lost their lives during a period of political persecution in the 20th century.

Have a picnic by the pond in this picturesque setting. Stroll across the traditional red bridge, noticing the fearsome sculptures marking the ends. The bridge leads to a classical bandstand, with a golden sloping roof. Admire the tropical vegetation as you meander between the palm trees.

Along the western side of the park is the majestic Presidential Office Building. Notice the baroque touches of its red façade and the pillars guarding the main door. Gaze up at its tall red tower.

Join other exercisers in the park and use the various machines in the outdoor gym or go for a jog along the paths. The park is open at all times, with free entrance.

Jieshou Park is in the Zhongzheng District, a little west of central Taipei. Ride the Tamsui-Xinyi Line to the NTU Hospital stop and walk south for several blocks to get here.

While in the area make sure to see surrounding attractions such as the President Hall Plaza, the National Concert Hall and the Armed Forces Museum.
