This building also houses the FamilySearch Center, where you can trace your family’s ancestors and legacy.This Italian Renaissance-style building was erected in 1911 as the Utah Hotel. The inn operated for almost 80 years. A 1993 renovation transformed the interior. The purpose as well as the name were also changed to honor Joseph Smith Junior, who founded The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Today, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building is a popular venue for weddings, conferences and fine dining.Admire the lobby’s intricate glass ceiling, huge marble pillars and opulent staircase. Look up at crystal chandeliers and stand on thick plush carpets. Visit the on-site bakery for a home-style meal or baked treats.
