The inn operated for almost 80 years. A 1993 renovation transformed the interior. The purpose as well as the name were also changed to honor Joseph Smith Junior, who founded The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Today, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building is a popular venue for weddings, conferences and fine dining.Admire the lobby’s intricate glass ceiling, huge marble pillars and opulent staircase. Look up at crystal chandeliers and stand on thick plush carpets. Visit the on-site bakery for a home-style meal or baked treats. A café on the ground level sells sandwiches and snacks, as well as gifts and souvenirs.The FamilySearch Center is on the fourth floor. Volunteers here help visitors piece together their family trees. Parking is available for patrons of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, which is closed on Sundays.
