Rent a scooter. 200 baht for 24 hours with a free tank of petrol. Cost 120 to fill it back up. Around a tenner for 24 hours and the roads are so easier to drive on. You can get around much easier.
Ibis run a free bus a few times a day to Kata beach. There is a footpath opposite the 7/11 that takes a short cut and straight to beach.
Kata Beach is very nice and is mid way between the noisy Patong Beach and the quieter Nai Harn Beach. It has a nice walkway along the front with hotels on the opposite side of the road to the beach.
Don’t be put off by the reception area which has a relatively dark decor, the rooms are well laid out and bright. Unfortunately the hotel suffers the usual problem with sun beds being reserved by towels at stupid o’clock in the morning.
You can take time to visit Dino Park Mini Golf during your travels to Kata. Stroll along the seaside in this quaint area or visit its seafood restaurants.
