"Hotel in the jungle with a rustic charm. Room was good with a comfortable bed. Lots of ants in the room initially but I suppose being in the jungle that’s to be expected! Restaurant food was plentiful and delicious. We stayed three nights and we didn’t get bored as there was a good varied choice -buffet or the a la cart menu-. Pool towels available and the attendant keeps the pool side nice a clean, especially with his endless battle with cleaning fallen leaves up. Bar staff were very friendly...

"This hotel lived up to the great ratings it has received...and then some. Every employee we encountered was warm and friendly. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, the rooms lovely. Best was all the elephant themed art work throughout the property. It was like walking in a modern art museum!"

"A little bit of frustration as it could be a gem, but the attention to details in the room make it average. Service was excellent, food was superb and properly priced, rooms were big and well designed, the flaw lies in the attention to details. Mosquito marks on the walls, cracks not plastered, gaps in doors that allowed bugs and animals (geckos and frogs) to come inside, mosquito net in shower room with wide gaps…I would be expecting this not to happen in a 4 star hotel"

"We loved our stay at Sinhagiri villa. The family that runs it are lovely and very friendly. We really recommend the cooking class, that was such an amazing experience. The food in general is super flavourful. The homestay is close to Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala and the hosts can help arrange a lot of different activities. Higly recommend!"

"My husband and I thought this was really neat. It's almost as though we were in the middle of the jungle. Gorgeous garden and pool. You'll also see some monsters, frogs and lizard! Staff were very v friendly we arrived almost 10pm our first night and they were willing to serve us dinner! We were grateful after a long day with no food! We would recommend it if you're in sigiriya! "

"Having just spent 5 nights at this hotel we can definitely recommend it. It was ideally placed for our self organised tour of Sri Lanka and, from here, we visited the iconic sites of Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla and the fabulous Hurulu national park where we saw many elephants. "Taru Villas, Maia, Habarana is an amazing boutique hotel, where you felt completely by youself. The staff were amazing and always making sure we had a great stay. "They do not seem to be well organized. I was looked out of my room for an hour and half with my son. It took 5 guys to come and they still took forever to get the door open. I felt like my son and I were the only two guest and I honestly didn't like that. They kept calling asking if I wanted my room clean.
