Charming Apartment with Stunning Sea Views with links to Dundee and Edinburgh

John McDouall Stuart View is a one-bedroom apartment which sleeps 5. It is located in the quiet village of Dysart. The apartment is based in a restored Period building across the first and second floor. On the first floor there is a spacious living/dining area, with a large dining table that seats 6, plenty of comfortable seating where you can relax and take in the breath-taking views out to sea. Within the living room there is a Smart TV with DVD player, a selection of DVD’s and books. The lounge area has one armchair and a four-seater sofa, the sofa is also a double sofa bed. A washing machine/dryer is located in a cupboard off the living room. Off the living room is a well-equipped kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and fridge. Within the kitchen you will find all of the essentials that you would need in a kitchen, including tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper.
On the upper floor is a comfortable double bedroom with sloped ceiling and lovely sea views. The bed can be made up as a super-king bed or two singles. (Please confirm which set up you would like when booking), within the bedroom there is also a full single bed set up. Should you also need a cot/high-chair these are available on request. There is also a modern bathroom with toilet, sink and shower on the upper level next to the bedroom. Freshly-laundered towels and bed-linen are all provided.
This is a non-smoking property and we do not allow pets. The property is based up a set of stone steps and there are stairs within the property. There is no lift access. There is plenty of parking on the street outside the apartment and on the high street behind the property.

(The additional single bed in the bedroom and the sofa bed / armchair in the living room is new and new photos will be uploaded shortly).

Just a few minutes away at Dysart Harbour, some key scenes from Outlander was filmed.
John McDouall Stuart View is an ideal stopping-off point if you are en-route to the Highlands, looking for close links to Fife's world-famous golf courses, or walking the Fife Coastal Path. The apartment is owned by Fife Historic Buildings Trust, a local Building Preservation Trust. It is a company limited by guarantee and has charitable status. It was formed in 1997 primarily for the purpose of saving and restoring historic buildings in Fife which are at risk. We are very proud of our beautiful historic building and would love to welcome you here.

John McDouall Stuart was born in this house in 1815 and later emigrated ‘down under’ where he led the first expedition to cross Australia from south to north in 1862. He is a celebrated figure in Australia, where he has a 950-mile highway named after him. The holiday apartment occupies the upper two floors of a three-storey B-listed building. The rooms have been decorated in keeping with the style of the building, retaining period features, such as the window shutters.

Hogmanay Holidays
We had a wonderful stay over New Year and found Dysart to be the most beautiful and interesting village. A walk round the harbour, up through the gorgeous park and round Ravenscraig Castle makes for a great afternoon! John McDouall Stuart View is a lovely place to stay, with a mega comfortable bed, fab shower and cosy, comfy living room and kitchen space. We were beyond chuffed to find a very generous welcome gift awaiting us on our arrival and were astounded to get an amazing view of the Edinburgh fireworks from the living room window - magical! We were genuinely sad to go and will definitely make a return visit - thanks to Beth and her team for a wonderful stay!

A lovely flat with great views of the Firth of Forth. Has great character.
Very well equipped flat, great for a couple. Flat itself up a flight of stairs as is the 1 bathroom, for us it was fine and the house has kept its character. Great waking up in the morning and looking over to the sea. Would love to come back some time. Thanks to the owners for their thoughtfulness-great to find bread and milk plus a bottle of wine on arriving. Flat is near public transport too (bus stop)

A delightful apartment
We enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It's bright, airy, well-equipped and beautifully cared for, with a wonderful view over the Firth. We found it made a good base for visiting the Neuk villages and other interesting places in Fife, and with easy access to Kirkcaldy station, was ideal for a day out in Edinburgh and visiting friends in Dundee.

Would definitely stay again!
The property was right next to the ocean and allowed for strolls along the rocky coast at any time. The village itself was rather quaint and nice and only an hour and half from Edinburgh by bus. Fairly easy to get everywhere without a vehicle. Upon our arrival we found a complimentary loaf of bread, some milk, and a bottle of wine to start us off. We also found several binders with information about the property and the surrounding village.

John McDouall Stuart View
We really enjoyed our stay in Dysart as we have done for a very long time. The property is very spacious for 2 and comfortable. My wife comes from Kirkcaldy so we have lots of family and friends to see, which we did. Hopefully we we will do it all again next year. Thank you also to Lorraine for the help when we lost the key(sorry). Best regards John and Ena Shakespeare

Stunning Views
The apartment in Dysart was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. It was well stocked with all the things we needed. When we arrived there were lovey fresh flowers on the table and coffee and tea in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. It was a charming place to be as we explored the Fife area of Scotland. The water front in front of the place was just beautiful and great for evening walks and pictures.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dysart. The cottage had everything we needed, great views, a quiet location and so much history. Lovely walk in Ravenscraig Park past the Harbourmasters House and so convenient for Kirkcaldy and the rest of Fife. Would certainly want to stay here again if we were coming back to the area.

Truly a home away from home!
I think my son said it best when he said, "It's like having a new home and we didn't have to move!" We really had want for nothing while we were there. The apartment was fully furnished. The kitchen had all the tools and supplies we needed, even salt and pepper! The gift of fresh bread was so sweet, made me feel welcomed as if a friend had left it. I loved the literature that was there in the book case which provided some local history. I loved the idea that I was in a building that was rescued and renovated. And the rates were very reasonable.
