"Location was close to little downtown, coffee shop and restaurants. Self Check in process was simple. Nicely decorated. Very clean. There is a community microwave and water dispenser but no coffee maker. Fridge in the room. We were very happy with this hotel. "

"First off, warnings…do not stay here if you’re expecting a lux experience, and be prepared for whatever the island throws at you. We came after a massive rain, and there was a cloud of mosquitoes chilling on the lanai. It did limit our ability to take advantage of the outdoor space. The accommodations are basic so you get to be creative with your cooking, but it’s all manageable. Now the goods…this place is far more like the air b n b’s of old, with an absolutely personable and responsive host and a quirky charm unique only to it. It’s a FABULOUS place and an absolutely great location for exploring the north Kohala coast. Come prepared to enjoy a remote and secluded spot for watching the flora and fauna of the big island!"

"Had vegan options! All restrooms were very clean including at beach and pool. Great bed. Very quiet and easy to sleep even if you are jet lagged on a different time zone. Breakfast served early enough to eat before excursions."

"This is the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Understated and tasteful elegance. Fantastic rooms with amazing balconies, world class beach, impeccable service, excellent grounds, fine dining at Manta, but also a beachfront casual bar/restaurant, and Copper Bar in between and our favorite. They have an Asian Art Collection worthy of a museum. This was out of our usual price range, a big splurge, and worth every penny. We are already trying to figure out how to swing it to go back next winter. "

"This was a good place for 3 couples to share. Waikaloa Village has easy access to many of our favorite beaches. The only downside was that it is managed by Vacasa, our least favorite vacation rental management company. Half the lightbulbs in the kitchen were out as well as one in the bedroom. The can openers were almost unusable even by very strong men. Apparently there was a new dishwasher because the silverware holder was strapped to the back of the dishwasher with the folding basket tops against the front making it impossible to use without getting it set up right. The shower curtain in the tiny master shower dragged on the floor by 8" making the shower seem even smaller. We reached out to Vacasa and were assured that local management would fix things. They did nothing, so we are bringing it up here. Its not a big deal and we enjoyed the views of the ocean and the spacious nature of the house. "
