From shipwrecks to the Sutro Baths, find adventure and plenty of photo opportunities around every corner in San Francisco’s stunning coastal park.

In the northwestern corner of San Francisco, discover breathtaking vistas at every turn in Lands End. The oceanfront park sits at the heart of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Find Lands End sandwiched on the coast between the Sutro District, Lincoln Park and the Fort Miley Military Reservation.

Begin your visit at the Lands End Lookout. A lounging lion statue stands sentry outside the state-of-the-art visitor center, opened in 2012. Learn about the history of the area, browse through the souvenirs in its small store or grab refreshments at the Lookout Café.

Continue north along the Coastal Trail. The 1.5-mile (2.4-kilometer) path snakes along the coast. Although it abuts some of the city’s most rugged territory, the trail itself is fairly easy hiking. Enjoy beautiful vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific Ocean and the Marin Headlands.

Take a detour to explore Mile Rock Beach. Discover the small and secluded cove tucked below the Lands End Viewpoint. Try to navigate the nearby Eagle Point Labyrinth, a small rock maze. Photograph the vistas from Point Lobos, Lands End’s westernmost promontory.

Enjoy unparalleled views from Lands End. At low tide, watch for parts of shipwrecks poking above the water. The waters are notorious among sailors and many ships have fallen prey to the treacherous conditions.

Visit the remains of the Sutro Baths on the northern end of Ocean Beach. Formerly a saltwater swimming pool complex, the baths burned down in 1966. Explore the ruins and enjoy the beautiful views.

Sunbathe on the West Fort Miley batteries. Spread out a picnic blanket on the grassy lawn, surrounded by historic gun emplacements.

After your sightseeing, reward yourself with a meal or drink at Cliff House. The iconic restaurant, located within Lands End, has some of the best views in the city. Afterward, check out the camera obscura perched on the nearby cliff top.

Lands End has plenty of parking. Use one of two lots at the western end of the Coastal Trail. There are no parking or admission fees. Visit Lands End throughout the year during daylight hours.
