This dark-sand beach has a striking appearance, excellent facilities and a convenient location for accessing the restaurants and bars of Fuengirola.
Like a few of the other stretches of sand along this coast, Las Gaviotas Beach features sand of a distinctive dark hue, giving the place a dramatic appearance. Its rows of piers give the land’s edge a pretty, wavy appearance. The waters here are a deep blue. Join the many locals and tourists who come to this beach every day, making it one of the most popular in the area.
Walk the 3,937 feet (1,200 meters) of the beach to see all that it has to offer. At 131 feet (40 meters) wide, there is plenty of space for the sun loungers that line the sand. Rent one of them to enjoy a restful day beneath its thatched umbrella. Alternatively, choose to rent a hammock and sway gently as the sound of the waves soothes you.
Note that the beach received a Blue Flag Award in 2016. This coveted award recognizes that the safety, cleanliness and facilities of the beach are all of the very highest standard.
Part of the reason that the beach is considered very safe is that the waters here are generally calm. Bring the whole family along and watch even the youngest members have a fantastic time playing and splashing in the gentle waves.
The beach’s location right next to the Paseo Marítimo Rey de España may be one of the reasons it’s so popular. This long waterfront walkway is lined with restaurants, bars and stores where you can pick up food, beach supplies and souvenirs. Head up to the promenade to grab a bite to eat when you get hungry. Or, find a table at one of the restaurants on the beach itself. Either way you are likely to have wonderful ocean views with your meal.
