Leisure World is an entertainment complex equipped with a couple of international restaurants and a nightclub. Its bowling section and cinema are among the activities that make the compound an ideal rainy afternoon setting.
Choose a film to watch on one of the 13 screens in the Odeon cinema. In addition to the latest Hollywood blockbusters and indie movies, the cinema also live streams plays and ballets from London. See an enormous projection of a film in the IMAX auditorium and appreciate the astounding sound system.
Enjoy Italian food from one of the restaurants before or after your film. Go for a few drinks at one of the bars and head to the Oceana nightclub to dance into the early hours. Night buses are available to take you home after the club.
Try your luck at the Grosvenor Casino Southampton, which has its own bar with sports screens. Roulette, poker and blackjack are among the table games here. Unwind at the casino restaurant and spoil yourself with waffles and ice cream.
Leisure World is part of a large outdoor complex featuring large department stores, such as IKEA, Decathlon and Argos. Lodge at one of the nearby hotels and practice lengths at the Quays Swimming & Diving Complex. Go roller skating and watch a live performance in the Engine Rooms opposite the cinema.
Note that the complex opens daily from morning until after midnight. It is free to enter, while the various attractions have their own fees.
Leisure World is a couple of blocks north of the River Test in the southwestern corner of the Southampton city center. Walk south from the city’s railway station for a few minutes to get here. If you drive, drop off your car in the parking lot. Explore the area for such highlights as the Tudor House & Garden, the Westquay Shopping Centre and the Bargate Southampton.
