This city center university forms part of the Cultural Quarter, a district home to galleries, museums, parks and performing arts venues.

Southampton Solent University stands at the heart of one of the city’s most vibrant arts and nightlife neighborhoods. Discover a blend of student life and superb cultural activities, which can be enjoyed every day of the year. Relax in some of Southampton’s prettiest green spaces while visiting Southampton Solent University.

The main City Campus brings energy to the Cultural Quarter and has faculty buildings set on either side of East Park. Watch blockbuster movies and participate in gaming tournaments at the student-run Sonar Film Cinema. Browse multidisciplinary art exhibitions by university students and emerging artists at the Solent Showcase gallery.

When not attending lectures, students can often be found at the bars, cafés, pubs and restaurants that line Above Bar Street. Alternatively, you might see them relaxing in the three parks adjacent to the campus. Pathways run alongside tree-shaded lawns in Palmerston Park and Watts Park. Spot memorials to the local industrialist Richard Andrews and the engineers of the Titanic in East Park.

Within the Cultural Quarter are attractions to keep you busy for days. Admire British and European masterpieces at Southampton City Art Gallery and have fun with interactive maritime exhibits at SeaCity Museum. Southampton Guildhall is a multipurpose venue for ballroom dancing, boxing matches, concerts and standup comedy shows. Enjoy an evening of ballet, opera and West End musical entertainment at the Mayflower Theatre.

The university’s other campus, Warsash Maritime Academy, is about half a mile (800 meters) southeast. It is close to St. Mary’s Stadium, the home of Southampton FC soccer club. Also nearby is Ocean Village, a marine district with a large selection of drinking and dining options.

Reach Southampton Solent University by taking a train from major British cities to Southampton Central station. From here it is only 10 minutes on foot to the City Campus. Metered parking is available in and around the Cultural Quarter.
