"Westmorland hotel is a no brainer as a stopover for the 10 hr journey to the Scottish Highlands. I have not met such friendly and helpful staff in a long time. The room was vast with great views. We walked down to the farmshop and bought some goodies. In the morning we turned left out of the hotel and had a lovely short walk along a quiet lane. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was fresh and tasted amazing. I cannot believe how convenient it is for the M6."

"Standard hotel, rooms are basic and functional, though in need of refurbishment in some areas. Having said that, there is a nice, lived-in feel about the place, so maybe it doesn't need too much gentrification. Staff are extremely polite, helpful and efficient, much more so than in most more-expensive hotels I have visited. Dinner was a little bit disappointing, breakfast was better! Overall, it's a decent place to stay if you are active and looking for somewhere to stay where you won't feel out...
