Extraordinarily Dissappointed

Booked a Five (5) night stay. Walked in walked out in less than 10-minutes. A review is not worth the effort.

Far from NOLA

The property was about 55+ miles from downtown New Orleans in a very secluded neighborhood. This was the first time I stayed in a vrbo where the owner still lived there. The townhome was very cluttered, no space to hang our clothes. Needs to be updated and the carpet cleaned. I did like that every bedroom had a shower, toilet and sink.

Worst experience I’ve had staying at a VRBO

There are cameras and recording devices in almost every room, which were not disclosed on the listing. The owner lives there full time, so the refrigerator and freezer were full with no place to put any of our stuff. Since returning home the owner has been harassing me about unplugging the devices and is now accusing me of stealing. He has even added another payment on to my bill. I should have seen it as a red flag that there were no reviews before we booked, so hopefully this one helps someone from making the mistake I did. If VRBO wasn’t so hard to get in contact with, I would be asking for a full refund.

We were disappointed.

Check-in instructions consisted of "The key is on the porch." Truthfully, when we had to shove the door open to enter the house, we should have been warned. The house was advertised as four bed, four bath, but the steps to the bedroom on the third floor were so steep that I had to climb them using my hands on the steps. We had to find alternate accommodations for the couple who were meant to stay there. Dust was thick on the kitchen counters and in the bedrooms. The master bathroom, though, defied description. All of the owner's personal toiletries were arrayed on the counter as well as a used glass by the sink. Used robes were hanging behind the door. The black mold all around the shower was just gross, though. There was what looked like urine sprayed on the back of the guest bathroom door, as well.Matthew very obviously lives in the house full-time. The refrigerator and freezer were packed with food. The closets were crammed with clothing. We were in town for a baptism, and there was nowhere to hang our clothes. The iron is a travel model with no steam, and the ironing board is a tabletop model. The house had an apartment-size washer and dryer, but the dryer stopped partway through a load. The owner said that the washer also doubled as a dryer, but no attempt was made to repair the actual dryer. We did laundry elsewhere.Overall, it was a place to sleep, not to congregate with family. We spent as little time as possible here.
