Abandoned in a corn field

four older travelers were left alone overnight in this B&B located 4 miles from the nearest town, The front door was left open, and there was no staff, no note, no phone. We arrived back at the B&B which we had checked into a few days before at 6 pm. No one showed up the next morning to fix breakfast so we left about 8:30. I left a note for the owner who told me she was not required to have staff on hand and that she did not have staff until 9 am when breakfast was served. My attorney told me I should have called the police. The B&B has a very bad reputation in the local community as I found out later. Stay here at your own risk!!

Four in a party from 68 to 82 years old. We returned to B&B at 6 pm after visiting the area. The front door was open -- there was NO staff. No one showed up at all and no one was there when we left about 8:30 am the next morning! Our rooms were not cleaned and beds not made. The manager's car was in parking lot but she was no where on the property. I left a note for the owner and when she called me she told me she was not required to have anyone at the B&B and that she didn't serve breakfast until 9 am -- there was no one there at 8:30 so that it is not possible to serve breakfast at 9! My attorney said we should have called police immediately as we were not safe and if someone had been injured or killed in the building we would have had a lot of questioning! Since then I have learned from relatives in the area that the B&B has a very bad local reputation. I advise Expedia to warn future customers or better yet -- do not list this B&B

Left alone in a corn field

This B&B is 4 miles from the nearest town. I was one of a party of 4 age 68 to 82 guests left alone in a deserted property. Entry door left open but no one on the property. No answer to phone. Rooms not cleaned. No one there the next morning. We left. My attorney said we should have called police! Later learned that this B&B has a very BAD reputation locally.

Honeymoon Ruined

Came here to enjoy our honeymoon. I have a 2 year old daughter and a 4 month old son at home 2 hours away from here in Dayton OH so we don't get out and haven't shared alone time together since before our daughter was born. My husband paid for a suprise package to have rose petals, candles, soft music, and the jacuzzi ready waiting on us after our return from dinner and they didn't have it ready! The only response we received from Samantha was Sorry, I wasn't here during the day. They were supposed to set that up for you. Unable to even take blame for what happened I am truly disappointed. Not to mention I am a breastfeeding mother so I had to make extra breastmilk months prior to this stay just to get away. She did try to offer us one free night that we would have to use in the next year, but once again being a breastfeeding mother who lives two hours away from HideAway Inn that isn't feasible for me. The only thing she could have done was take the charge off for one night so we could continue our honeymoon someone else that would meet our needs and she refused to do so. Needless to say we left a night early, paid the whole price, and do not plan on returning. Also stink bugs in the room. An old orange sock from previous guests I assume.... And even though the site states that breakfast is included the front desk lady says otherwise! Thanks Samantha! And also the owner who offered zero solution.

TRULY A BLESSING!

My husband and I stayed at hideaway country inn for our three night honeymoon stay! We first want to say THANK YOU to the staff at the inn especially chef Rex and can't forget about Rita his beloved dog. Our first night here was our wedding night, upon arrival to the eagles nest which was an upgrade thank you very much! My hubby and I came in to find rose petals scattered throughout our room and heart shaped rose petals on our very comfortable king size bed! We enjoyed our first night relaxing in the huge Jacuzzi tub for two sipping on moscato (which we highly recommend) with fireplace a blaze! Our second day here we enjoyed our breakfast brought to us in a picnic basket which was great so we didn't have to leave our room, and there are not enough words to describe how delicious our food was. Later in the day we had a couples massage (which we highly recommend as well).It was so relaxing and they were amazing!!! Then chef Rex and Rita brought us our dinner in a basket which was Superb!! Can't express how great chef Rex is and how great our food was! Our third day here we started off with breakfast in the manor house which in fact was more delightful then expected! Later on we got all dressed up for our candlelit dinner for two (highly recommend!) Our dinner was phenomenal my hubby had the Our dinner was phenomenal my hubby had the porterhouse and I had the salmon we couldn't even eat it all , but it was a Perfect evening! We had our first dance as a married couple in the library which was romantic! To sum it all up this place is a hidden gem with spectacular staff! We will definitely be coming back again soon and of course, telling everyone about it! THANK YOU again, hideaway country inn, with a sincere Thanks to Samantha for making our three night stay unforgettable!!

Another Successful Anniversary

Nice and quiet Anniversary. Debbie and her staff took great care to ensure everything was perfect. Couples massage was great. Bubble bath, candles, cookies and ice cream, how romantical! I wish I could remember everyone?s names. Shoutout to Samantha for her attention to detail. Only concern was understanding how to work the tv. No big deal. Didn?t need to watch it.

Cancellation policy no joke!

We planned to visit to celebrate our anniversary. Our in-laws were to watch our children. Unfortunately, hurricane Matthew struck their home in Flagler county FL. We called to cancel the reservation 13 days before our planned trip. They refused to refund any of our money. We needed these funds so we could use them to fly to FL to assist our family in restoring their home that was flooded with 23 of water. Never have I met a group of people unbending in policy. We decided to keep the reservation to ensure they could not gain additional profit. Normally, I would never contemplate such an action. However, we felt we were losing the money anyway so why should they gain twice the profit.

Over priced - Disappointing experience

Customer service is lacking. I never received a phone call from the wedding planner and when I called I was told she would call me back - never did. The Elopement Package we purchased was a false advertisement. We didn't get the room we booked (got the one next to it, no explanation), I was not given a bridal bouquet that was included. The air conditioning unit dripped water all over the floor. We were the only guests there but our room was not cleaned or fresh towels stocked during our visit. The breakfast was gross. It is quiet there. Nothing to do nearby. We shopped in Ontario, Ohio and found a fun sports bar in Bucyrus (Bakers Pizza & Sports Shack) that we may visit for our anniversaries. We went there to get married & we got married. We will not be back or will we recommend it to anyone else.

HORRIBLE!!!OWNER IS A LIAR AND CHEAT!

Place was fabulous. Service was underpare for what u pay to stay. When u spend thousands of dollars u expect perfection not the owner to lie to your face. Watch your contract with this one,no point of signing anything because u won't get what was agreed apon. Didn't expect to get served breakfast from staff in fuzzy pj shorts and nappy hair so unprofessional! I love how I read all these bad reviews and she try's to turn it on the customer! Please beware if u choose to stay here! She can say all she wants I am making it my mission to keep writing bad reviews so people do not get taken advantage of like I did!

Average Experience

Upon our arrival, the on-hand front desk person lacked the overall knowledge expected of even the most basic representative of the hospitality industry. Greetings were dry, and details regarding the inn and its history were deficient (ie: ?Oh, I want to show you this ? the guy who built this house invented that.? while pointing at a very unique propeller on the wall which could have, undoubtedly, been a very interesting conversation piece). She then proceeded to tell us that we would have to pay an extra $20 per person for breakfast because it was not included in the rate we paid, when questioned, she stated that the ?Girl who made our reservation doesn?t even work here anymore.? She then showed us to our room, and asked that we return to the office in a few minutes because the owner would be there at that time and would be able to tell us whether or not our breakfast was included in our rate. The owner, Debbie arrived and immediately remedied the breakfast inclusion debacle. Our suite, The Hunter?s Den, was not well appointed on the bottom floor. There was an empty, cheap air freshener plugged in behind the door. There were dead bugs inside of the heater, and stains as well as a dead fly smashed on the blinds/shade. The WiFi was not reliable which was understandable given the very odd weather we were experiencing during our visit. The second floor was incredible. The massive bed was extremely comfortable and the linens provided were top-of-the-line. The sky light added an amazing amount of natural light, the tiny office nook was very helpful, and the bathroom was impressively clean. The jacuzzi tub and fireplace worked wonderfully. Breakfast was plain but good. We were served yogurt with strawberries, homemade lemon bread, and bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. No complaints. Service was much better in the morning. Overall, average.

Don't waste your time or money!

My husband and I have tried this place twice. We wanted to really like it. They failed miserably both times, though. To first time we visited, we got a picnic lunch, and they served us (LATE!) Subway sandwiches. We were shocked and very disappointed. There was also no one in the office when we wanted to check out so we just left. The second visit was actually worse than the first! We went for a retreat. We actually liked our suite, it was comfortable and clean. However, lunch was inedible. Sandwich buns were so crusty you couldn't even bite through them. They told us we had to get out hours earlier than we were previously told. The worst thing is that after the retreat the Hideaway took money from the retreat ministry we went with, without permission or warning. You couldn't pay me to ever support this business again. It's very sad, as this could be a great place for our local area.

Owner is extremely rude!!! Not recommended!!! Not worth the headache

Other sites have similar reviews so please read! Owner Debbie Miller responds & ALWAYS blames the customer!There would be 4-6 girls, 1st said 1 rm would work. When we booked had to get 2 rms. I understood the policies about payment but that once we checked in we could pay separate. Didn't happen! 4 of us had spa trtmnts during our stay, 3 of us called to book. They never asked credit card info even when asked if it was needed. Inn said it can be taken care of on arrival. We arrived about 3. Check-in is 4. The room was ready. Spa services started at 4. Headed down to supper at 6:15.We were going to give the credit card info to pay separately. I asked for an itemized list. Julie tried to figure it out. After 25 min,went to the bar and she would bring us the list. About 8:30 a hand written list was given to us. A confusing list! Asked then if we could take care of it in the a.m b/c we had a few drinks.Julie would be there in a.m. Our food took awhile so we asked for it to eat in our rm, which they delivered. Staff leaves with the last bar patron. When ready to use the pull out couch, we found NO linens for it! Then in the morning more bill discussion! Still couldnt figure out how to individually charge us. Must've talked for an hr w/o resolve. The owner would contact me when she returned from vacation. She is the rudest person I have ever spoken to. I put it on speaker phone so my hubby could hear. She just kept telling me how she worked 15 hr days for 6 days before her vacation and how great her place is. No resolve then either. She asked for screenshots of our emails which I provided. I finally called my credit card company and they called her (they said she was nice and WE screamed & yelled at her, refused to give our card information) which then I FINALLY got an itemized list! I know that this is long but please beware of the owner. Wish it had turned out different, I really wanted to enjoy it!

Don't waste your money!

My friends and I booked one night at the Hideaway Inn for a Girls night, a night to get away to enjoy spa treatments and lots of laughs. Instead we spent most of our time there trying to figure out our bill. We went to the pub area for some pre-dinner drinks only to find a very small selection and the room was freezing. We then moved into another room to eat our dinner which took so long that we asked them to bring it to our room. The room itself was pretty nice minus the horrible sulfur smell. I can't imagine anyone would want to take a Jacuzzi bath in that! By the next morning when we came down to eat breakfast they still didn't have our bill figured out. Each person was to pay for their room fee plus their spa service, not sure why that was so hard. We ended up leaving without the bill (even though they had already charged one of us a hefty fee with no explanation of what is was for). The owner finally called one of us only to be utterly rude and disrespectful. She went on about how many hours she worked (not our problem). I then called hoping to figure some of this out only to have her literally yell at me. Their spa pricing is outrageous for what you get. After 3 days we are overpaying just to be done with this disgusting woman. Don't waste your money!! Do not go to this place unless you want to be treated like crap by the owner herself and if you want to waste your money.

Weekend retreat

Very please with Hideaway Inn, near Bucyrus OH. Historic home made into rooms, in farmland setting with no noisy centers nor subdivisions around. Very comfortable place to go for seeing Lake Erie , central Ohio, Amish country, Hike/bike areas

The experience was wonderful, except it was ruined at the end. They charged us 200$ extra on champaigne that we didnt order, and argued saying that we did. We would never go there ever again, nor would i really suggest anyone going there that actually care about their money.

Think Again

At first, this place looked very promising. Our room was large enough and seemed comfortable. However, our stay ended up being a comedy of errors. First, no silverware at the dinner table. When I asked for silverware, the waitress looked at me like I had three heads. The dining table was wobbly. The heat in our room would not work. I asked 3 times for someone to fix the heat issue, and nobody knew how to accomplish this. Last but not least, employees of the B&B decided to leave the front door open as they brought in firewood -- during dinner time in the dead of winter. We could literally see our breath as we tried to eat our salads. Needless to say, we were not thrilled with the customer service.

BEFORE YOU BOOK READ REVIEWS!!

I had set a time to meet with Debbie about a wedding. When I arrived and met Debbie who brushed me off to the Cook to talk about the wedding I was planning. YES! I spoke to the owner who I set a time up with to meet and she now pushed me off to the Cook to show me around the grounds and talk to me about my wedding?? The Cook?? FYI he's a COOK not a CHIEF. People are paying for an over priced meal so the owners can get more money out of you. False advertisement. Anyways, When sitting with him he talked about food and where to have it and how to have it. There was NOOOO professionalism AT ALL NOT FROM ANY OF THEM! Then the girl who checks guest in came in the room and said do you have anything else? IT WAS WEIRD! Why would I be talking to these people about my wedding? Then when I was walking out the amazing so called Chief was in a truck messing around with a four wheeler. Reading the reviews of this place doesn't look like I would EVER EVER stay there and have them charge my card with extra expenses that should NOT be charged as I read from prior reviews. They also accused a couple for steeling a robe and called the cops on them and read that wasn't the first time she called the cops on couples for steeling a robe to only then charge their cards. I'm sorry but if their is a ton of bad reviews there has to be truth to the matter. I read they are RUDE as I can honestly see the owner being exactly how people explained as she brushed me off and reading her responses to the reviews, she even response to guest on here RUDELY, and the Facebook account they had got hacked so there was a bunch of bad reviews as Debbie explains on a review and is having the FBI look into it.. COME ON!!! REALLY!? NOT EVERY GETTING MY BUSINESS

Celebrating our first wedding anniversary

Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The room was gorgeous and very clean. We ordered the gourmet basket. the steak kabob was great, but the tuna was way overcooked. But the rest of the food was really good. We really enjoyed the experience of having the gourmet basket delivered to us. I loved the wine cellar and the overall feel of the bed and breakfast was very classy and we will definitely come back and stay longer.

More than we expected

My husband & I have stayed here several times, & absolutely loved it every time! We have stayed in several different rooms, and were pleasantly surprised every time. The rooms are clean, beautiful & extremely comfortable. There are many things to do on the grounds. The place is peaceful and relaxing. The food is made fresh, served to you, and is delicious! Terrible stay - bad business owner

Planned a romantic getaway here Valentines Weekend. Upon check in we were told it would be a few minutes and to take a seat in the bar. The bar was unattended so we could not order a drink, or even have a glass of water. We waited for an hour and forty five minutes before we could check in (we arrived a little after the check-in time) Upon entering our room it was lovely, however, we had ordered a dinner basket to be delivered to our room and with the delay in checking in our dinner would be coming in less than a couple of hours. We started to unwind and decided to turn the tv on - hey we did not have the kids, we could watch what we wanted!. The tv did not work.....Called the front desk and was told they would check on it. What ensued after that was a Monty Python movie. First one then another then another employee came in checking the same thing, told them the same information, over and over again. They then told us we would be upgraded to another room and that our dinner which was now over an hour late being delivered would be set up in this other room. We were advised this would be done in 20 minutes. Over an hour later we called again and advised please just bring our food as we were very hungry. The young lady running the desk brought our basket, the food was terrible. The pork was cold and overcooked, veggies were overcooked, the rolls were rock hard. The only edible part of the meal was the small slice of cheesecake for dessert. Our new upgraded room did not have a tv that worked and the fireplace was not working and no one knew how to make it work....... I think you get the jest. Ran poorly, bad food, rude owner. Have to stay at 2000 characters couldnt share the whole story. Buyer beware

Rude!

Do not make a reservation at this inn! Owner is rude, insulting, dishonorable. I did not actually stay here - thank heavens. Provided the courtesy of canceling my reservation 4 months in advance and was charged $150! Contrary to what I was told by their reservationist before booking - I was told there was no cancellation fee if cancelled at least two weeks prior. Owner would not honor what the employee told me, and in addition did not honor what she and I agreed to on the phone - $50 for canceling the three rooms. A later email said she was charging me $150, or $50 per room! Don't know about you, but i prefer giving my money to honorable business owners.

Quiet and cozy. Very nice service. We didn't get to eat in dining room as they weren't open on Mondays.
