The Riad Tchina was everything we expected and more. I booked to stay 3 nights with my boyfriend for a sightseeing holiday of the real marrakech. The location of the hotel certainly gives that - but if you don't like a bit of hustle and bustle to get to where you're staying then it's probably not for you. But to experience the real lives of people around you the location is perfect. Don't be put off by it's surroundings though, inside it's like an oasis. There IS a small pool but be warned even in 40degree weather it was freezing! - Though we still used it daily to cool down, it was a real plus. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean. My only criticism would be the lack of hot water for showers, however this is ofter something hotels in the old city cannot avoid. Breakfast was brought to us at a little table in the courtyard and was great (freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh made pancakes!). The ladies running the hotel are lovely, but speak very little English so brush up on your French. As with a lot of hotels in the old city you have to pay a special fee when you arrive, that I think is imposed by hotel regulations or something. But don't worry it was really not too much even on our student budget. The hotel is 100% worth going to, to get real authentic Moroccan life. Don't be put off by mucky streets, it's part of the charm; and the hotel inside is worth the confusing task of finding it! (On trying to find it - you will probably have to ask a local to take you right to the door, they often want to be given some money for this, but it's impossible to find otherwise as it is not signposted by any means and is in fact down an alley off a street off a bigger street, all with no names!). TOTALLY WORTH A VISIT. Could recommend it to anyone.
