This is an old heritage building looked after extremely well. Even though it is close to the railway station it is still very quiet. Close to Crown for food and an Indian Restaurant onsite. Must book with this. It is very busy.

A grand old building with a real feeling of history. Charming staff. Particularly the Irishman who greeted me warmly, and left a card and chocolates in the room. Added to the rich ambience.

Great value for money. The spacious suite had everything I needed and was well-maintained. The location was perfect, just a short walk to the Convention Centre and South Wharf. All staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Had one relaxing evening in the hot tub in the pool area. Highly recommended and will definitely choose again.

A beautiful old building with history and charm. Pool and spa are amazing. Short walk to everything I needed: food, shopping and transport. I had a huge room with actual blockout curtains so I could sleep properly. Train noises are to be expected but I didnt affect the quality if my stay at all. Im already making plans to return! Highly recommend.

A beautiful old, but charming gem. Think long, wide hallways, heritage building, gorgeous views, well and centrally located. Staff were lovely and accommodating. The check in process was seamless and the room was gorgeous (thanks for the upgrade to the loft room!). The room was clean, quiet, modern and well appointed. Highly recommended.

The desk staff offering use of toilets and library later in the day after we checked out was a very nice gesture. Although we didn't require it I can see other guests appreciating it if they had waits for trains, flights etc and time to kill.

Nice old building. The customer service was fantastic. Some of the furniture in my room was a bit old but that did not bother me. The most important thing for me was that everything was nice and clean. When I go to a hotel I take anti bacterial wipes and spray with me. Everything was good and the only thing I hit with the wipes was the tv remote. Trust me never touch a tv remote in a hotel room without sanitizing it first. They are filthy things.

Denis was always friendly and helpful--even helping me connect my computer to the internet when I was having tech issues. His assistant, Cherry, was also friendly and helpful. My daughter enjoyed the heated pool and jacussi. Everything about the hotel was perfect--though I have two suggestions: 1) my mattress was too soft--it would be great if the hotel could provide a futon upon request; 2) the hotel has only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers--not enough for such a big hotel. They should add 1 or two more washing machines and dryers. My heartfelt thanks to the Grand Hotel's friendly and competent staff.

When we checked in we found we had been upgraded from a stanard room to a suite with a loft bedroom. Also a lively little note from manager with a treat was included. If you like a hotel with historic atmosphere, this is thenone for you. It was also one block from the train station and right in the middle of the CBD and bus station to airport.

Grand Disappointment
I hadn’t stayed for many years (15+) so I was excited to be staying in what was a great hotel. But sadly since my last stay nothing has been maintained. Bathroom had hair on the floor beard shaving in the sink and around the tap, the tiles were badly broken, the shower head didn’t stay up. I can only assume the white crusty dribbles down the bathroom door were from a fun night had by previous occupants The towels were thin as could be while still resembling an towel and useless to use after a shower. The curtains had burn marks and holes and overall very dirty. The overall feel of the room was sad. In realestate terms it was a renovators delight.

I liked the Convenience to Southern Cross and airport buses including all public transport. Large comfortable affordable and clean accomodation. The old fashioned sincere friendly staff and serviceis a breath of fresh air. Some areas , kitchens, feel a little tired.

A Visit to Melbourne
This Gran Dame has seen better days. It is great for long term staying, but lacks the amenities we associate with a modern hotel chain. That being said, you could not be in a better location for access to multiple tram lines. The inhouse restraunt is a very good Indian restaurant. But there are ample choices within a couple of minutes walk.

10 stars for customer service. Every single staff member we interacted with during our stay were amazing. So helpful and polite. The property is located very conveniently to shopping, public transport, and restaurants. Felt very safe walking to the hotel at night (after attending a concert nearby). Will definitely be staying again.
