"First off, being right across the street from the station is a big plus in the dead of winter. This is a relatively small hotel with smallish rooms, but very capable overall. Nice little touches like nice pajamas and slippers, an onsen that is free to use, two massage chairs, free ice cream treats all day, and free late night soba. Service is also very good. "The front desk staff was super helpful. The free breakfast buffet was very good - as was the dinner at the hotel restaurant. We went during ski season and there is not much else by way of restaurants in the area besides at other hotels or on the slopes so I'd recommend making a reservation at the hotel restaurant for your nights there. You can mix it up and do the chef's course menu one night and stick with the regular menu the next. Note: You cannot just walk in, they require a reservation....

"Very convenient for the station. We arrived with a lot of luggage so was offered an upgrade to a larger room for £10 per night, which we took. Glad we did as room was still compact but did what we needed for two nights. We were able to send a couple of our bags onto the next hotel using Black Cat.
