Explore a beautiful palace located in one of the best spots of San Sebastián. Enjoy its lavish gardens and fantastic panoramic views of the bay.

The Palacio de Miramar (Miramar Palace) also known as Palacio Municipal de Miramar, Palacio Real or Miramar Jauregia in Basque language, is a famous 19th-century building in San Sebastián. Visit this fantastic palace that was previously the summer residence of the royals and discover stunning views of the Bahía de la Concha (Shell Bay, better known as Concha Bay).

Queen María Cristina of Spain, and second wife of King Alfonso XII, decided to locate the royal summer house in the city of San Sebastián. The palace was built in 1893. Its construction was based on a project by the prestigious British architect Ralph Selden Wornum. When María Cristina died in 1929, the Palacio de Miramar was inherited by Spanish King Alfonso XIII. Finally, in 1972, the City Council of San Sebastián bought the palace from Don Juan de Borbón, the third son of Alfonso XIII. See the majestic palace and explore its beautiful surroundings, known as el Conjunto de Miramar. You’ll find a large area of about 8 acres (3 hectares) with a park, gardens and several smaller buildings.

The façade of the Miramar Palace preserves its original look. Admire the exquisite details and the lovely decoration in neo-Gothic style. Wander inside to see the fantastic interior. It also preserves some rooms of the original configuration, such as the elegant Royal Dining Room, the Petit Salon, the Music Hall, the White Hall and the Library.

Explore this magnificent building that housed the Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco (Higher School of Music of the Basque Country) until 2016. It now hosts the summer courses of the Universidad del País Vasco (University of the Basque Country). See the gardens and noble areas that are used to host elegant parties during important events of the city, including the Festival de San Sebastián (San Sebastián International Film Festival).

Discover the Palacio de Miramar and marvel at the beauty of one of the most famous buildings of San Sebastián.
