Aylmerton House is a historic Southern Highlands home that sleeps 14. The sandstone home was built in the 1870's and whilst it has been modernised for contemporary living, please understand that it does retain many original features and should be booked as a casual and comfortable home or a large group of friends, or a family gathering - true to the photos. The property has 5 acres of rambling lawns and gardens, which are constantly being upgraded or changed by the owners. Certain sections of the garden may therefore have works in progress during your visit. The main house and cottage (connected via a covered walkway) have 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, multiple living rooms, two fireplaces and lovely wrap around verandahs. Aylmerton House is a quintessential Southern Highlands experience!

Where will I be?
Aylmerton House is located in a very pretty farming area, just to the north of Mittagong. The property is flanked by cattle farms of beautiful weekenders, and is itself a lovely 5 acre property, complete with lawns, gardens, dam and walking tracks. The property is located on the corner of Old South Road and Aylmerton Road, yet is very quiet and secluded. The towns of Mittagong and Bowral, plus any golf courses, wineries, wedding venues, restaurants or cafes are all an easy drive from the house. This is a stunning, historic home, well worth a bit of extra driving - if needed - in order to stay here!

How is the property laid out?
The property consists of the main homestead, which adjoins a separate cottage and garden bedroom via a covered walkway.
As per the floorplans provided, the main homestead sleeps 10 across 5 bedrooms and 3 shared bathrooms. It also has 2 living areas, a large dining room, and a classic country kitchen.
The adjoining cottage sleeps 4 across 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. The cottage also has its own kitchen area. Note that the second bedroom has an external door and is not accessed from inside the cottage. This is evident in the photos.
Do I use the main house or the cottage or both?
You will have use of both the Main House and the Cottage. Both are connected via a covered walkway.
Wi-Fi, internet, Netflix or pay tv- will I have it?
This property provides complimentary Wi-Fi and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email, or will be available at the property. Please note however that neither the agency nor the owner can guarantee 100% that the Wi-Fi will work, and no compensation will be payable if problematic. If important, please therefore always have a backup plan.
What about outdoors?
Aylmerton House stands on 5 acres of lawns and gardens including commemorative and sculpture gardens, large lawn areas, mature trees and a large dam. The house and cottage also have covered verandas. There is a nook or hiding spot for each season and every occasion!
Please however take extreme care with young children on this property as the dam is NOT fenced.
Keeping warm or keeping cool?
During the cooler months and winter, the house has gas central heating, 3 fire places, electric heaters for the bedrooms, and electric blankets on the beds. In the warmer months, the house can be opened up to catch any available breeze. The sandstone walls also keep the main house very cool by comparison to other construction methods.
What about sheets, towels and other supplies?
High quality sheets and towels are provided at Aylmerton House.
Toilet paper, kitchen soaps, guest soaps and some other supplies are also provided, but please be prepared to top up during your stay as needed. Regarding food, condiments and the like, please plan to bring everything you need. For safety and hygiene reasons, our houses generally do not supply food items.
Parking for cars, boats etc.?
There is ample off street parking for 6 - 8 vehicles. Please park only on the gravel driveway areas, not the lawns - thanks.
Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay?
Yes, your favourite pet is welcome to stay at Aylmerton House, and please note the following:
- the yard is NOT fully fenced
- please keep your pets off all furniture and beds
- please clean up behind your pet
Wildlife
Please note that due to the nature and location of this property, wildlife may be about including possums, kangaroos, spiders and snakes. We do whatever we can to keep the property safe and do work with a network of wildlife removal experts, however we cannot guarantee that you will not see any wildlife at the property. If you do, we will use our best endeavours to have the animal removed or to make the property safe, however no compensation whatsoever will be paid for any disturbance caused by wildlife. You must book the property knowing that this risk exists, even though very uncommon.
What are the minimum stay rules?
- Summer Season: Between 2 and 7 nights, depending on the property
- Easter: 4 nights
- Long Weekends: 3 nights
- All other times: 2 nights
Are there any special Summer Season rules?
Please note that during Summer Season, our properties may have designated changeover days so as to make the cleaning rosters manageable. We also do not schedule arrivals on the Christmas, Boxing, and New Years Day public holidays.
