Mizner Park is an upscale retail, dining and cultural area covering just under 29 acres (12 hectares) in the city of Boca Raton. The development is spread out along Plaza Real, the main thoroughfare. All of the shopping and eating options are within walking distance of one another. There are also high-end condos and office space in the park.
There’s something for everyone in the 45 retail outlets, which include clothing boutiques, pet stores, jewelers and home decor shops. Art lovers should head to the Boca Raton Museum of Art, while movie buffs can catch a film at the eight-screen theater. Foodies can indulge at restaurants and cafés that serve anything from sushi to burgers, steaks and ribs, or pick up gourmet goodies, such as artisanal cheeses and homemade ice cream, at specialty stores.
The Center for the Arts at Mizner Park is a cultural hub at the north of the park, which includes an amphitheater as well as the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The outdoor amphitheater is a great place to take a picnic dinner and be entertained. The schedule may include everything from the local symphony, to jazz, to a visiting acrobatic troupe.
The Boca Raton Museum of Art covers a broad range of artistic styles, including prints, photography, West African and Oceanic art. Find works by European greats such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. The collection also includes 20th-century American artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Bring your cell phone to use for an audio tour (regular phone charges apply). Alternatively, take one of the docent-led tours offered throughout the day.
Mizner Park is 23 miles (37 kilometers) from Fort Lauderdale. It’s open daily, and free parking is available. There’s a small fee to enter the museum and children under 12 are free. The museum is open every day except Monday.
