Montepulciano is a medieval town of rare beauty on the top of a hill and not far from Siena. A unique hamlet with elegant Renaissance palaces, ancient churches, beautiful squares and small hidden corners. From Montepulciano, you can enjoy a fabulous and endless panorama of Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana, an endless and green countryside covered with fabulous vineyards that produce the famous Nobile wine. The harmonious Pienza, the spa town of Bagno Vignoni, the famous Montalcino and many other typical medieval Tuscan villages are all within easy reach in a short time. Piazza Grande is the heart of Montepulciano and hosts the city's main events, including Il Bravio delle Botti, the yearly event in August.
Built in Etruscan times, Montepulciano has for centuries been the center of the war between Siena and Florence. The cities were in conflict for the domination of Montepulciano until 1232. Montepulciano has only one main street called "Il Corso", which starts from the lower part of the city to Piazza Grande. Outside the walls, there is the Church of Sant'Agnese with the Gothic portal, the Medici Fortress of Sangallo and the 14th century gate of Gracciano, which has been used as gateway to the village. Outside the walls of the historic center of Montepulciano, in the middle of a spacious green meadow, there is the Church of San Biagio. It's great to be lost in the typical streets of Montepulciano, where time seems to have stopped, visit the cellars, taste and discover the secrets of the Nobile wine ideal to accompany the local cuisine.
The Stunning Views apartment is only 100 meters from the bus station. From here, you can easily reach the train station of Chiusi-Chianciano Terme on the Rome-Florence railway line. Nearby there are public and private spa centers. The most famous thermal spas in the area are: Chianciano Terme, Bagno Vignoni, Sant'Albino, San Casciano dei Bagni, Bagni San Filippo, Rapolano Terme and Bagni di Petriolo. From Montepulciano you can reach the main tourist destinations of central Italy such as Siena, Florence, Assisi, Perugia.
