We were visiting Monterosso as part of a roadtrip through Italy. We got caught in traffic and realised we'd never make it to the hotel by the cut off check in time so we called the number provided which lead to a message in Italian. We tried for hours with no response, we even had local officers translate the message but they said it made no sense. We finally made it to the hotel worried that we'd be locked out but thankfully they'd read an email we sent and stayed open for us. So that was a pro, despite the fact that we received no response. We were then taken to our room which isn't actually in the hotel but about 50 metres down the road. There are a number of stairs to reach the room so pack light (if you choose to stay here). Whilst showering the water fills up so you're basically standing in a bath of your own filth. The hot water is scarce and runs out after about 10 minutes. The walls are very thin- everything can be heard from the other room, loud fridge. There were cracks in our walls which were hidden by a couple of paintings. One of our pillows smelt like mould. The air conditioner wasn't working so a portable one was installed meaning the window had to always be open for the exhaust to exit the room- letting insects in freely. The reception staff were friendly and the greatest thing about this hotel is the location, as it's steps away from the beach. However, we read the reviews but chose not to believe them but now understand they aren't an exaggeration.

It was a pleasant enough stay. The only difficult thing was we had to check in at a different hotel, walk to our 'door' -- which was close, but we had to haul our heavy suitcases up a huge, steep flight of stairs. And the stairs had no handrail. Getting them down was even trickier. The room was clean and comfortable, it was close to everything. There were pictures covering a wall where the sheet rock was falling off, so that needs to be repaired....

First night was a nightmare! They put us in a room with no air conditioning, broken shower, a sink that wouldn’t drain, tv not working and mosquitoes. Instead of apologizing for their mistakes, the person that answers the reviews wrote: feel free to check out! If they refund our money and there were any other hotel available, we would check out for sure!!! Then they transfer us to another room next night. Room was ok. Last night we couldn’t open our door. It was stuck! Luckily it was before 11pm because if it was after we would sleep outside. We are never coming back and not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

The property is in an excellent location opposite the beach and walking distance to bars, restaurants, shops and the train station. Our room was lovely and the beach front balcony was awesome.

Great location. Very weird booking in at another property then walking though a bizarre to get to room. We drove there but struggled to bet access to the town to park. The security at the top of the hill didn’t want to let us through, tried ringing the property to check with them but no answer. We called as well - no answer. Very stressful overall. More information and ability to contact is needed!

A wonderful place to stay!
We loved staying at this hotel. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and even got a great recommendation for dinner. We were able to store our luggage in the morning so we could hit the beach while we we waiting for our room to be ready in the afternoon. We liked this little quaint strip of Monterosso - great places nearby and a glorious beach - and a short walk through the tunnel to the shops and restaurants. Our room was up some stairs (to be expected in this area) and the room was spacious, clean and the bed comfy. Our A/C wasn’t working so that was our only complaint but the hotel was trying to fix it that day. We would definitely stay here again - great value for the price!

This is a newly renovated hotel that operates at a separate building than the check in location. Unfortunately, attempts to contact the property itself prior to check in (email and phone) was not successful as Expedia listed the check in time as only between 2-4pm. This is false. Check in is until 11pm, but it is located in another hotel: La Villa Degli Argentieri Via Fegina 120/122 19016 Monterosso al Mare, Province of La Spezia Italy If I hadn’t read another travelers review, I would not know this because it’s not instructed on Expedia or Da Flos website. Once I found this, check in was very easy. The hotel receptionist walked us to the building with our rooms (Da Flo signage outside, green door entrance next to Miky Restaurant). Room is very clean. Located 3-5 min walk from Monterosso train station. Beach literally right outside our doors. Wifi not in the rooms, but just outside in the common area. The only complaint of the room was that the shower drain is slow and I had to be mindful not to flood the bathroom... For the price and the location, a little bit of inconvenience was acceptable for us. Hopefully this review helps others with the check in process.

Great view of the seaside, with a lovely small terrace. However, the hotel is poorly signed and difficult to find, check in was confusing and not clearly communicated, wifi was intermittent, and shower did not drain properly, Other than the terrace and view, this felt very overpriced for the quality of room..

We arrived on Friday evening around 8.30pm There was not hot water, which means they do not comply with minimum living standards. We asked for someone to come over to repair and no one ever come. On Saturday and Sunday we had hot water for maximum 10/15 min a day and we had to rush both of us to take a shower. That’s absolutely terrible! The shower also broke so the support for holding the shower was not stable, as soon as we removed the shower handle the whole stand came down. Disaster. The main door of the apartment has been locked and we been locked out on the same night when we arrived. We been out for dinner and when we come back the main door was blocked, my husband had to repair the door and we struggled to get inside the property. They mentioned they will repair the door in the morning but that did not happened. We stayed for the entire period in unsafe place with the main door unlocked and also open because it was not possible to close it. The girl from the reception Elena has bene part of the whole events and she knows the poor experience they made us go through. We called Expedia because we wanted to change but unfortunately there were not available places so we had to stay there. But if possible I would ask for a refund because that’s not something acceptable: - no hot water - no safety - plus they never picked up the phone when we called asking for any info or help.

An expensive room compared to what I normally pay, so was expecting something better. No middle part of the toilet roll holder, the shower head holder came away from the wall, no coffee sachets in the room or milk, no TV remote control, and barely any channels available on the TV too! Worst of all is the location is not as shown on the map - see pic: it's not as advertised where the dot is, as it's actually to the left of the train station, so not in the main area of Monterosso at all (which was one of the main reasons I booked the hotel!)

Perfectly decent accommodations for getting around Monterosso and Cinque Terre. You won’t spend much time in the room anyways, so worth the value and what you pay to be in the setting. Very convenient to the train station and appreciated having a hotel down the way for check in and questions.

Was in an excellent position and had a fantastic view. Only issue is the address given was incorrect. We tried to phone but it kept going to voice mail. Waited round for 3 hrs before receiving a text with checkin details/ address. Would have been handy to have those details the day prior.
