If your ideal beach resort offers pulsating nightlife, smart shopping, fine dining and all the trappings of organised tourism, you won’t find it at Nai Harn Beach. If, however, you’re looking for pristine white sands, crystal-clear water and a splash of local culture, look no further. This unspoilt beach relies on stunning natural beauty and authentic Thai charm to lure discerning visitors away from the more crowded parts of the island. The Samnak Song Nai Harn Monastery, which owns most of the land around the beach, has helped to discourage major tourism development in the vicinity. This spiritual centre occupies a group of buildings just behind the beach and villagers come every morning to leave small offerings of food for the monks. It is possible to visit the monastery but respectful dress is required to enter this sacred site.Another local place of interest is the freshwater lagoon just inland from the southern end of the beach. Here you can jog or ride a bike around the perimeter, go fishing in its tranquil waters, unpack a picnic on its scenic banks, or take a paddleboat to the island in the centre, where you’ll find a park and children’s playground. The beach has plenty of places to hire a snorkel to explore the rich marine life that lives in these warm, clear coastal waters. The best snorkelling spots are in front of the Royal Phuket Yacht Club, or take a scuba diving excursion into deeper waters to watch colourful tropical fish swimming among the fantastically shaped coral reefs.November to May brings the calmest conditions for swimming, while at other times of year the gentle tides at the southern end of the beach are perfect for bodyboarding. Further out to sea, a natural sandbank breaks the waves for some excellent, year-round surfing. The village has changed little in the face of encroaching tourism, lending it an authentic charm which is hard to resist. Before you head back to your hotel, dine with the locals in one of the small, family-run restaurants that effortlessly produce elegant plates of delicious Thai food.Nai Harn Beach is in the south of Phuket, around 20 minutes’ drive from Patong and an hour from the international airport.

Reviews of Nai Han Beach
5/5 - Excellent
awesome safe beach
5/5 - Excellent
Nai Harn beach is where we spent most of our time as it was right next to our hotel. The beach is excellent, with sun beds for hire (200 baht per couple) or just lay out under the trees for shade. The sea is very warm and the waves at certain times can be very high, so ideal for some fun.
