See one of Asia’s longest underwater tunnels and intriguing animals from around the world in this vast celebration of aquatic life.

The National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium is home to large tanks full of fascinating ocean life. Take the kids to this exciting center so they can learn about bizarre creatures and play with penguins and seals. The museum has several sections with their own specialties, such as local fish or coral wonders.

The entire site has an area of 240 acres (97 hectares) and features many interesting sections that will keep you entertained for hours. Explore the various exhibits in the aquarium. Browse the Waters of Taiwan area to see marine creatures native to the island’s waters, including rivers and the ocean. Take the kids to touch the marine invertebrates. Spot Japanese eels, nurse sharks and spotted eagle rays.

In the Coral Kingdom, study several exhibits that show the difference between certain depths and pressures or reef environments. See moray eels, cownose rays and lionfish amongst the the coral. Make your way to the Waters of the World zone to find out about the story of our oceans’ development.

The museum was opened in 2000 after almost a decade of planning. It incorporates research facilities, an experimental center and an international conference center. You can pay extra to stay overnight at the aquarium and receive special benefits, including a night tour of the exhibits and a bed in the underwater tunnel. Watch the fish swim around you.
