Rockpool Cottage is located in the quiet historic village coastal village of Port William in Wigtownshire. It has views directly on to Luce Bay and out to the Scares Rock, Isle of Man and Mull of Galloway.

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels (including beach towels) and Wi-Fi included. initial basket of wood for wood burner also included. Travel cot and high chair available on request.
Outside is a huge sheltered private garden to the rear with extensive grassed areas, flower beds and patio area with seating. The garden is enclosed so pet and child friendly. Guests need to be aware of the steps to the elevated section of grass at the rear of the garden.
At the front of the house there is a driveway for one car and a stone chip garden area with bench to enjoy the sea views.
The cottage was refurbished in 2023 and has a lovely fresh airy feel to it. Blues and yellows reflect the sea and the sun to provide a sense of relaxation; the sound of the waves breaking and the sea air will do the rest.
The attractive living room has comfortable sofas and a cosy wood burner which is the perfect place after a busy day. There is a sea view from this room which catches different light depending on the weather. The front bedroom enjoys stunning sea views and provides a very relaxing place to rest during a well-earned break.
Port William has a village shop providing most necessities. There is also “The View” at Port William Inshore Lifeboat which does great food and has a licensed bar.
Rockpool Cottage is great for beach walks (or swims!). The Second Sands beach is directly in front of the cottage with an abundance of rock pools and sand; and many more along this coastline towards Monreith and beyond.
Luce Bay is renowned for its fishing and there are wrecks for divers to explore.
This delightful corner of Southwest Scotland will tempt all ages to return time and again. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit including Galloway House Gardens as well as Threave and Logan Botanic Gardens.
The beaches are deserted, wild and numerous with waves, rocks and sand in abundance.
Enjoy a drive to the Galloway Forest Park which is perfect for cycling or walking in forests and hills. There are picturesque lochs, plentiful wildlife (including a wild goat park and red deer park) and starry skies. Galloway Forest Park was the UK’s first Dark Sky Park.
A visit to Wigtown (Scotland’s National Book Town) is a must with numerous independent bookshops and coffee shops.
The area includes the Crook of Baldoon RSPB Nature Reserve, Baldoon RAF Airport (disused) with lots of WW2 pill boxes and buildings hidden away. Torrhouse standing stones, Whithorn Priory, St. Ninians cave, Kirroughtree Seven Stanes Mountainbiking and Wigtown Martyrs Stake. There are also several golf courses for those interested in golfing at Wigtown, St Medans and Newton Stewart.
For youngsters, there is playing on the beach, rock pooling, rock climbing, catching crabs, play parks, Cocoabean chocolate factory, nature trails, cycle tracks, picnics and plentiful wildlife.
For older children and teens, the great outdoors awaits with world class mountain biking at Kirroughtree, climbing, sea and river kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, horse riding, hillwalking and fishing.
Rockpool cottage is a great base for the beautiful coastline of Wigtownshire and also the remote Galloway hills.
