"This was a great hotel to stay in. Location was convenient, staff was friendly, rooms were clean and met our needs and the restaurant and bakery were superb! There is a station and 7-11 nearby. We typically caught a cab just outside our hotel and it cost about 10 dollars to get from hotel to Kyoto station. Others probably walk and use the closer station to get to Kyoto station but it was so hot and humid, we preferred to use a can. "

"The hotel is brand new—clean, modern, and very comfortable. Its location is excellent, with easy access to public transportation and plenty of restaurants nearby, which made exploring the area very convenient. The staff was polite, though English was limited. Still, with some patience, we were able to communicate and get what we needed. One downside was that, despite booking with VIP status, there was no acknowledgment or recognition—not even a small gesture—which was disappointing. Additionally, access to the pool and spa requires a reservation and comes with an extra fee, which was unexpected for a hotel of this level. Overall, it’s a solid choice for its cleanliness and location, but there’s room for improvement in service and transparency around amenities."

"My son and I visited Japan in February/March 2025 and stayed in hotels in four cities. Not only was the Hotel Okura Kyoto our favorite hotel in Japan, but it is now one of my favorite hotels worldwide. First, the rooms are impeccably clean and have every imaginable amenity. There is a fantastic amount of storage, and rooms are very quiet. We tried both breakfast restaurants, and loved the extensive western and Japanese options.The location was very useful, and walkable to the main shopping street while in a quieter spot. However, the staff were by far the most wonderful part of our stay. We had some difficulty in Kyoto figuring out transportation options, logistics, and finding things we need - the staff helped us each time with very personalized issues. They also arranged a much better car rental agreement for us when our plans changed. They were even able to help us find the nearest pet store selling rabbit food - every request was met with warmth, kindness and assistance. "
