The hotel write up was more spectacular than the facility. It’s an old old hotel that has been upgraded recently and converted into suites (at least our room was). The air conditioning didn’t function well in the common areas and it gets HOT in Florida. There was an issue with elevators, but they did have a technician there for evaluating. One or two were not working and one we seemed to always end up on was terribly slow. Probably due to the age of the building.

This hotel is reasonably nice overall, I think as Marriott continues to morph this into a semi-high end place it'll only get better. The pool area is quite impressive for a hotel, it feels more like an all-inclusive resort. The hotel itself can be quite noisy, there is always music playing in the lobby area, and since the hotel has a central courtyard, the sound tends to reverberate upwards and might wake you up when it starts playing around 7am. Soundproofing between the rooms can be a huge miss; the door used for adjoining rooms blocks virtually no noise at all, I heard the neighbor's tv better than my own. Housekeeping was, odd to say the least. In the 6 nights we stayed, housekeeping cleaned up the room at most on 2 of those days. The biggest detractor from this hotel is the absurdly expensive parking. It's $35USD plus taxes per night. I don't understand how this can be justified, considering the hotel has its own parking lot with more than enough space for everyone staying here. And since this is Florida, it's not like you can reasonably get around anywhere in the general area with public transit or on foot. This reason alone is what will stop me from coming back. Just build it into the room rate, there's no justification to hide a potentially multi-hundred dollar extra fee that isn't really disclosed until after you book.
