Having said that, there is a nice, lived-in feel about the place, so maybe it doesn't need too much gentrification. Staff are extremely polite, helpful and efficient, much more so than in most more-expensive hotels I have visited. Dinner was a little bit disappointing, breakfast was better! "The staff at the Boot and Shoe were lovely - they were friendly and helpful during our stay. The cooked breakfast was excellent. We had booked a table for dinner but unfortunately the table we’d been allocated wasn’t great so we dined elsewhere.
