Enjoy the view from the observation deck on the 86th floor, atop the world’s tallest twin skyscrapers.

The Petronas Twin Towers are Kuala Lumpur’s premier landmark. This is the world’s tallest twin skyscrapers building: an incredible 1,483 feet (452 meters) from ground to spire. Argentinean architect César Pelli designed this building as a symbol for 21st-century Kuala Lumpur. Construction started in 1992 and was completed in late 1997. This awe-inspiring skyscraper held the title of the world’s tallest building until 2004, when it was overshadowed by the Taipei 101. Since then, several skyscrapers have climbed even higher but the Petronas Twin Towers remains an impressive feat of engineering. There are 33,000 glass panels and 55,000 stainless steel panels decorating the exterior, and 29 two-story elevators zoom up and down the 88 floors. Head up to the Skybridge that links the two towers on floors 41 and 42 to walk across a bridge hanging 558 feet (170 meters) above ground. Continue upwards to the observation deck on the 86th floor, a staggering 1,181 feet (360 meters) above ground. You’ll take in views for miles in every direction on a clear day. Be sure to arrive early to secure a ticket to the deck, as only a limited number of visitors are allowed admission daily and spots run out quickly. Once your feet are back on the ground, be sure to explore the enormous Suria KLCC mall at the base of the towers. You’ll find designer clothing outlets, technology and entertainment stores, and dozens of eateries and restaurants. The mall complex is also home to an aquarium, a cinema, an art gallery and the National Philharmonic Orchestra Hall. The Petronas Twin Towers complex is in the heart of downtown and easily accessible by public transport. There is also a pay parking lot underground. You can go all the way to the top of the tower Tuesday through Sunday, year-round. There’s an admission fee, but the views are well worth it.
