Enjoy the soft sands, cerulean waters and mountain backdrop of Las Americas Beach. These features have earned Playa de las Américas a spot among Tenerife’s most beautiful beaches. Nearby find a constellation of bars, clubs and fast-food restaurants. Over the last few years, the beach has worked to improve its bawdy image as a party-only destination. Now join more and more families and couples who appreciate its diverse attractions and sophisticated restaurants.
Las Americas consists of six beaches connected by a long promenade with views over the lively waterfront area. Head to Playa de Guincho for the best surfing and windsurfing conditions. Although this beach is a little rocky, the golden sands of nearby El Camison and Troya are perfect for sunbathing and swimming.
Rent a surfboard or snorkeling gear to explore the beach’s warm waters. You can also arrange a scenic catamaran trip along the coast or a whale-watching excursion. Cool off with a drink at one of the many cafés, bars and restaurants along the beachfront promenade.
Escape the crowds that clutter main beaches by taking a trip to El Puerito, located between Playa de las Américas and Playa San Juan. Although this small fishing village offers very basic facilities compared to the nearby tourist-oriented beaches, you’ll find a few places to enjoy a meal or rent diving and snorkeling equipment.
In the evening, go to Veronica's Strip to drink and dance at Playa de las Américas’ trendiest clubs and discos. Find more bars, comedy clubs, karaoke and cabaret at the nearby Starco Centre. For something a little more low-key, the family-friendly Patch area has a number of inviting pubs and restaurants.
Las Americas Beach is also an ideal base for daytrips to Teide National Park. Hike to the top of El Teide mountain or take a quick cable car ride to see the picturesque views visible at the summit. The beach is located on the southern coast of Tenerife. Use the regular bus connections between Tenerife South Airport and the beach.
