"Our group of 3 had a great time staying at the Lodge & Alaskan cabin at mile post 28 on the Nabesna Road in Wrangell/St Elias National Park. The owners are great hosts & make sure that you have everything you need. If you need anything, just ask.
The Alaskan cabin was very well designed & built and will comfortably sleep 4. The kitchen is well stocked & has a starter set of everything you’ll need. The pellet heater worked very well & automatically kept the cabin warm.
Since this location uses solar power & wind power, certain concessions such as no hair dryers, no drip coffee makers & no microwave, are required. We found that these “concessions” actually added to the experience, & you get some robust French Press coffee in the process. Plus, the accessible internet has not yet made it all the way to the interior of the park & there is no cell service, so look forward to some exceptional unwired time in a beautiful location. You can purchase a token to access satellite internet, but who wants to do that in these surroundings?
Finally, be sure to take advantage of their food options. We had a dinner & a breakfast there, & it was the best food we had in Alaska. It is served in the refurbished hunting lodge which adds to the experience. Next time we’ll get more meals in the lodge.
