The Queensland Museum houses exhibits of cultural heritage, natural history and human wonders all under the one roof in Brisbane’s Cultural Precinct. Explore the museum’s in-depth exhibitions and extensive permanent collection to discover the world beneath your feet and above the clouds. Learn about the time of dinosaurs and the magnificent biodiversity of the tropical state’s landscapes or find out about the cultural heritage of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Put your brain and body to the test with exciting hands-on science experiments at the museum’s Sciencentre.

Go back in time to Queensland’s prehistoric past in the Lost Creatures exhibition. This display shows a world where dinosaurs roamed and giant marine reptiles swam in the sea. Learn about energy cycles with life-size dinosaurs and find out how these creatures survived. Explore a gallery dedicated to Queensland’s unique and fragile ecosystems and learn about some of the fascinating critters that call these landscapes home.

You’ll see science everywhere after exploring the museum’s Sciencentre. Find out how everyday objects work or test yourself with interactive displays, puzzles, challenges and illusions. The Body Zone exhibit shows how your senses perceive the world around you with hands-on activities. Discover the stories, personal connections and cultural significance of displays dedicated to Queensland’s Aborigines and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Stop by the Collectors Café for a snack and a refreshing drink. Pick up souvenirs or educational books and toys at the Museum Shop. Find out about the museum’s public program to take part in exciting activities and educational events. There are learning activities for children and expert talks and intriguing seminars for adults. Whether you’re taking the kids out for an excursion or just feeling curious, there’s plenty for visitors of all ages to enjoy at the Queensland Museum.

The Queensland Museum is located in South Bank, within walking distance of the Queensland Art Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art and the State Library of Queensland. Take in views of the Central Business District across the Brisbane River from this exciting Cultural Precinct. The museum is open daily, except for Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. General admission is free however, Sciencentre has an entrance fee.
