The Black River Haus is a Scandinavian inspired renovated 1970s cabin offering 3 beds + 1 bath and 140 ft riverfront located in Washago, Ontario near Muskoka (15 min to Gravenhurst). The cabin has been fully renovated and designed with the surrounding nature in mind, featuring a rustic living room & fireplace, fully-equipped kitchen and an outdoor patio & firepit. The Black River is 30 km long and is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, swimming and exploring.

The Space Inside:
The Black River Haus is designed with the surrounding nature in mind for a cozy & rustic yet modern stay with beautiful details throughout the space.

• Single story space with 3 bedrooms (our space is optimal for up to 4 adults and 2 children, it will be cozy for 6 adults)
• Open concept rustic chalet-style living room with a gas fireplace
• Fully equipped kitchen with fridge, oven, kettle, microwave and stove
• Dining/remote working area with panoramic windows
• Renovated bathroom with shower and heated floors
• Onsite washer & dryer for your use (for weekly rentals only)
• Carefully curated Scandinavian and nature-inspired pieces
• High speed Wifi (500 mbps) available to connect, remote work, etc.
• Canoe & kayak rental included (for summer months only - June to Sept)
• Snowshoes & poles rental included (for winter months only - Dec to Mar)
• Other amenities include: Smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Spotify logged in, board games, record player, bluetooth speaker, and more

The Space Outside:
• Large east facing deck with gas BBQ grill (available year round)
• Camp fire-pit and Muskoka chairs (available year round)
• Parking space for max 3 cars
• Private dock on the water with direct access to the Black River (not for use in winter - mid Oct to mid May)

*We are a licensed STR #2021.040 with the Township of Ramara.


Other Details to Note:
• Please be respectful of our house rules and our neighbours as the cabin is not completely secluded. There are many cottages and cabins in the neighhourhood as you will see a few cottages on the other side of the river during winter months due to trees losing leaves.
• Please note that we have one security camera in front of the cabin which only covers the outdoor front entrance area (for insurance and safety purposes) and a noise detection device for excessive noise (device does not record any sound).
• Dock and canoe/kayak are not available for use during winter/spring months due to snow / river current being too strong.
• As we're in the woods, there will be bugs and mosquitos especially when the weather gets warmer around May/June. We provide bug zapper, bug spray and mosquito coils for your use.
• If you want to bring a pet, please ask us in advance!

Calming retreat
This cozy getaway in a lush surrounding was beautiful, clean and relaxing. We loved the view from the main living room and enjoyed the songbirds at dawn and dusk. The cottage is very well equipped so it made packing much easier and left us with more room in the car! The hosts were wonderful and kept in constant contact when we checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. They were even proactively reaching out when we had stormy weather which was extra service we didn’t expect but very much appreciated. On evenings best enjoyed indoors, we happily caught up on some of the latest shows with the multiple streaming services available. If you’re looking for an easy getaway with immediate access to the lake, look no further. Thank you! We all had a blissful time!

Great Cottage Experience!
Cottage was just as described… quaint, stylish, comfortable, exceptionally clean, great floor plan and full of amenities! Slept four very comfortably and provided easy access to local attractions. Nice surrounding properties and surprisingly very quiet at night. We had an enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend this rental cottage! Hosts were very responsive and attentive to any questions we had which made for an even more positive experience. Thank you!

Beautiful modern cabin experience!
My friends and I had an amazing time here! Super modern and beautifully designed space. We loved the cathedral ceilings and big windows with the river view. The space was well equipped and the espresso machine was on point! Neighbourhood is super quiet and peaceful, lots of other cottages in the area. We'll be back for sure!

Amazing Place
We traveled from Mexico to spend time in nature and this place is fantastic. It is a very comfortable, clean property and has everything you need to enjoy the surroundings.
